Katie was watching "MythBusters" the other night and the show was their holiday special.  The "MythBusters" crew often comes up with the strangest things (I have observed, from time to time, that they build contraptions simply because they like to build contraptions), but one of their creations made me laugh out loud.

The myth they were checking was about damage caused to feet and pets by a dropped frozen turkey.  For the part of the experiment where a pet was killed by a falling frozen turkey, they made a zombie dog.  It was a canine skeleton (not certain if it was really bone or a metal armature) with ballistic gel cast around it.  The thing had two googly eyes that they had found somewhere.  You know, the kind with one clear outer sphere and an inner sphere that is painted like an eye.  The other globe is filled with a liquid, causing the eye to roll around, but always return to looking straight up.

What you get is a slimy-looking creature with flesh that is orange and translucent….with two freaky eyes that wobble around.  Not only was the dog awesomely funny looking, but the effect of dropping a frozen turkey on it, striking just in front of the hips, was not for the squeamish.  People, do not drop a frozen turkey on your pet.

Somebody needs to make a movie with zombie dogs based on that design, even if they only put in a cameo appearance.

Anna had to leave the room when that thing came on.   I THINK it was a simulated bone that has similar breakability to he real stuff, at least the zombie foot seemed to be that.

I never knew that a frozen turkey could cause so much damage.  Fortunately my dog doesn't like the kitchen.

Hey, this could make a really good scene in a zombie movie. Some people are trapped in a refrigerated warehous and have to ward of the zombies by bombarding them with frozen turkeys.

Ever see frozen turkey bowling or turkey luge that turns up on various shows this time of year?

When we used to get a free frozen ham or turkey as a Christmas gift at work, I had to help transport/store a bunch of them one year. Lots of chances to drop them on your toes when trying to jam a bunch of them into too small of a fridge wiith worn out wire shelves.

"Mythbusters" one of the top reasons I miss cable. Semi-scientific inquiry, wacky job shop doodads, stuff blowing up (sometimes when not intended to), the comedy of Adam and Jamie, and Kari (although Scottie always seemed more my type).

Kari is HOT! Oh, yeah...but Scotti seems more..."Sensable" maby? In that group, at least.
Love that show. They are NUTS! I LIKE that about them! "Jamie loves big booms!"
And...who here don't feel the love for poor, poor Buster the crash test dummy?
