WARRIORS OF THE WASTELAND (1983) - Phew........There were a number of movies in this film. It was like STAR WARS (1976) meets ROAD WARRIOR (1981), plus BARBARELLA (1968). They made this one as only the Italians could have done. Starring Fred Williams in this post apocalytic movie that has the bad guys wearing white like Stormtroopers, laser guns, one vehicle sound affect that attempts to mimic STAR WARS, then you have the whole ROAD WARRIOR theme mixed in with the scrapped together vehicles, and a boy who uses a slingshot. Fred Williamson uses his explosive bow and arrows. Maybe RAMBO II borrowed from WARRIORS OF THE WASTELAND with the explosive arrows. This should be mandatory 80's viewing for all B-Movie fans.

Thumbup (6 out of 10 Stars) Because it borrows from so many fine films.

Also known as "The New Barbarians."  You have the crazy plot of the Holy Order of the Knights Templar, but mixed with "The Road Warrior."  I believe this is also the one where the hero has a friend, who is a young boy living in a junkyard.  When he goes to visit the kid, the little brat tries to kill him as a way of greeting.

What sticks in my mind about this film is when the hero is captured by the Templars, of which he was once a member.  To save his soul, the head Templar decides he must be purified by...ah...unwanted sexual contact.  That entire scene, as it built up (and even during), went something like this for me:

"Oh, no worry, Fred Williamson will show up and save him."
"Any minute now, Fred Williamson, and they are out of here."
"Fred, time to hurry."
"My God, where is Fred Williamson? No, no!"
"So dirty..."

Reminds me of my reaction to the scene in "Deathstalker," where the hero (who tends to force himself on the girls) starts going to town on the evil henchman that was turned into a woman.

Yea, I was starting to wonder what was going on after he was captured had him tied up in the dark, then one of the troops tells the leader they found a group of people, then they all leave him with three guards to have him killed. Definately thought Williamson was going to show up.

One of the best of the Road-Warrior ripoffs and one of my all-time favorites.
