Had to go with Hardware.  That's a hell of a good film.

Despite a soft spot for Steel Dawn, I gotta go with The Road Warrior - the film that set the standard for 80's post apocalyptic cinema.

I'd say the genre requires, more than any other one, a certain degree of madness to work. Tha "A movies" like "Planet of the Apes" or the different "Mad Max" films can be zanny, yes, but for real crazy stuff you need to watch the likes of "2.019 -  After the Fall of New York" or "Hardware". I mean, when was the last time you needed to ask your neighbours for supporting fire because some android was trying to rape your girl?

I went with A Boy and His Dog, just loved that movie, like the whole idea of the young man and his telepathic dog wandering the earth and surviving by their wits, especially like the fact that the dog is the smarter of the two.
You left out Miracle Mile, excellent movie about calling a wrong number and global thermonuclear war.

Well I've got three favourite. First is "Planet Of The Apes", everything makes there an unique atmosphere of typical movie for Sunday afternoon  TeddyR Second one is Mad Max (generally whole series, I can't choose the best part) and last one Tank Girl. It's first post apocalyptic movie and probably my favourite. I saw it when I was 7 or 8 and it was key to the rest of bad movies (besides Lori Petty was mouth-watering for me then  TeddyR TeddyR )

Ha, ha! "Tank girl" rocks!  hot

If it wasn't because my brain hurts everytime I see it I would rank it higher in this thread. Gotta love the silly one-liners, the anarchic atmosphere and Malcolm McDowell and his mech arm.

And yes, Lori Petty was VERY hot back then, nothing to be ashamed of. Wink

I've been wanting to see TANK GIRL for years now and even had rented it once on VHS, but had to return it before viewing. I'll have to make this film a priority. Saw a trailer over at imdb.com.

Added TANK GIRL and 2.019 to the Post Apocalyptic list

Omega Man is my fav but I still need to see Ultimate Warrior, from what I've read of it before, I think it'll be a favorite of mines. I love Radioactive Dreams too, those disco mutants are priceless!

Tank Girl is a favorite of mine. I remember seeing in thearters when I was younger. Lori Petty wa so fine for my little adolescent self.

Miracle Mile is other great film that I saw rather recent. It came on TV a bunch of times a couple of months ago on sundays.

One of the common "I am looking for a movie" films, which is often an indication that a movie has something going for it.  People may not remember the title, but they remember the interesting situation.  Waking up one day, when you should be dead, and finding that everyone else is gone.

Trying to remember what was the experiment that went wrong and sent everyone away.  Time travel?  Super collider?  Some sort of big and powerful science...but it escapes me.

It was called : Project Flashlight ... in the movie
It had something to do with transmitting power all over the planet.
