Apparently Universal has snapped up the rights and is planning on remaking this wonderful film..... I plan on performing seppuku in retaliation. Right in the center of Universal Studios Florida! (Sadly, I'll probably lay there for quite some time before someone realizes it wasn't a special effect. LOL!) Anyway, read this depressing bit o' news here at Chud.com:

Hollywood seems bent on doing this these days, at least with successful Asian films.  If you make a good movie, they want to buy the rights so that they can film an English version, because no way would Americans enjoy watching a film in another language.

Thank goodness this did not happen to "Amelie."

Dam when is it going to stop. On the American front I heard theirs a Hellrasier, Creature fo the Black Lagoon and Wizard of Gore remakes.

Sequels seem to be in full swing with other Hostel and Saw 4.....
Most of all I hate dancing then work, exercise, people, stupidpeople

Say it ain't so. I bet they redesign the creature, change the nature of the story so it isn't centered on a family and try to score some name celebrity to headline.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

You know, this makes me wonder if we the people have the power the shut a movie down.... Seriously, if the online communities started b***hing enough and confirmed a boycott of a film, such as the possible remake of "The Host," would Hollywood stand down???

Probably not, but its a nice dream isn't it?

Unfortunately, I doubt we could, if the desire to stop it was based  on "Don't film a needless remake."  If the remake was going to feature something that people could protest against, then you might be able to get enough public interest.  In this case, I think people would react with, "Well, it's their money."  Not a terrible reaction, because making a flop movie is a way to dissuade others.

I am NOT pleased.

Somehow I could see an American remake of Amelie starring Nicole Ritchie. It would suck, and be a pale shadow of the original, but that's the direction I could see them going in.

A Wizard of Gore remake? OK, but only if they keep that ending, to p**s off and confuse a new generation.
