...5.Caught in a Trap-ELVIS!!!!
Your song is
"Suspicious Minds." ...#9 Dream by John Lennon (Imagine, Instant Karma, and So This is Christmas too)
And your song is
"Happy Xmas (War Is Over)".
...Shout by Tears for Fears
Voices Carry by Til Tuesday (is my list looking a little too 80s here?)
Yes it is looking a little "80s", but who gives a ratzass? I really like these songs, too.
Welcome to the club.I Find myself listening to more 50's R+R more and more.I always wonder how American Rock and Roll would have evlved if the British Invasion had not elapsed good old 50's-early 60's music...
What the British Invasion did was really revive interest in true Rock n' Roll and Blues, many 50s classics were covered by
THE BEATLES,
THE ANIMALS and
THE STONES... great acts like
CHUCK BERRY,
BUDDY HOLLY and
ROY ORBISON were an inspiration to the Brits.
Nobody named these bands or groups or people, so I guess I will:
...Frank Zappa... King Crimson...
ZAPPA and
KING CRIMSON were both mentioned by
Torgo.
Yep, I also have that Halloween Hootenanny disc. I've wondered the exact same thing about how Rock n Roll would have evolved without Beatlemania. My theory is that punk and psychobilly are showing us the answer to that question.
Not true! The PUNK movement was largely instigated by a love for the old 2 minute 45rpm... A lot of the PUNKS and Proto-PUNKS were inspired by early Brit invasion records, and the American record response.
THE RAMONES were even inspired to get their name from
PAUL McCARTNEY... if that's not a tribute to the British Invasion, I don't know what is!
Just found this old thread and enjoyed reading everybody's comments (but not so much the long lists...)
