What are the 3 main reasons you watch movies?

1) You can vote 3 times
2) You can add a reason by posting about a subject not listed

What I'm looking for in a particular film depends on what genre that the film is in.

I'm looking for something in a horror film that I'm not looking for in a historical drama.

I usually tend to gravitate to certain directors (Peter Jackson, Tarantino, Kubrick, Kurosawa, Raimi) or particular actresses (like my dream woman Uma Thurman).

My main reason to watch films? To escape reality.  :teddyr:

From that list, I suppose I'd have to go for storytelling, horror and action.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I'd go with escape reality too, I have enough of that in my face all the time.

One reason I never understood Reality TV ... I live reality, I don't need to watch it.

Well.................I have a theory about watching Reality TV. I watch it knowing that it isn't reality. This helps somehow.

I'm convinced that watching reality TV causes brain rot.

To date, I take pride that I've only seen 15 minutes of Survivor since it's been on the air, none whatsoever of American Idol and a very small amount of Fear Factor.

I picked:

Escape reality (pretentious people that frown upon movies ask me why I "deny reality" by collecting b-movies, I tell them I don't deny it, it just happens to be that the reality of reality is that reality must be escaped cause it sucks, therefore I'm the one truly embracing reality by denying it)

Action (I count gore as action too cause I prefer watching gore in action instead of just seeing it as a prop, my philosophy on gore is that it should be used as an enhancment for some action, just seeing autopsy footage of gore is boring for me personally, that's just like staring at a butcher shop, I'd rather see exciting "active gore" that are results of action like in Story of Ricky or Braindead)

Realistically on must realize reality is real and rationalize that reality reasonably and responsibly to revolt revocations.

Escape Reality- I don't watch TV and the only time I do is comedy. My movies help me escape alittle and it better than watching "Reality" TV or some B.S. drama or law show. Thinking about the only shows I ever followed where X-Files, Buffy, Angel, Alien Nation. Shows like that are in the minority now.

Action- EXPLOSIONS!!! CAR CHASES!!!! GUNS!!!! sorry a real "man" moment but you get the idea.  :twirl:

Horror- When I was younger I was terrified to watch anything scary. Now I embrace it.

Three reasons why I watch B-Movies? Boobs, Blood and Brutality
Most of all I hate dancing then work, exercise, people, stupidpeople

It is social thing too.  Watching movies with friends can be a barrel of laughs.

I should add that there is a glaring omission in the choices.  While it might not get many votes, that could be for reasons beyond "the truth."  The missing possibility is:

To ecscape reality.Laffs.And certain actors or directors. Fun!
