I know where my towel is.

This DVD was a new arrival yesterday, so I popped it in last night.  Previously, I had seen just the rather serious part of the movie, so I was missing the full effect.

A mobster turned informant is killed by two other mobsters and his body dumped in a pond.  A meteorite lands in the same pond, just a few feet away from the submerged body.  The rock reanimates the body, turning it into a rotting zombie.  First thing the revenant does is to find and kill the two mobsters, after that it hangs out at the bottom of the pond.  Until, that is, some college students find the meteorite.  Then the hideous corpse wakes again, bent on recovering the meteorite.  Unfortunately, one of the college students made a pendant for his new girlfriend and used a small piece of the meteorite...

Before I go father, I need to mention that there are four college students as our main cast (and a police detective or captain).  The students are evenly divided, two boys and two girls.  One of the boys is the boisterous sort and he is also the one who made the pendent.  When he gets scared, it is annoying (and he gets scared a few times).  He also freaks out when his girlfriend starts sucking on his face and telling him, "I am ready."  He is a putz and gets on your nerves quickly.

The movie suffers due to waffling between serious and goofy.  The zombie kills the two mobsters, but never harms anyone else.    Instead, you get a comedy "people rushing around" as the monster scares them.  It also shuffles up to the one girl, causing her to pass out, but then shuffles away - leaving the pendent still around her neck.  It does not know whether it wants to kill people, nor whether it wants the pendent or not.  Eventually it is chased into a theater by the police and the whole building explodes when a gas line is damaged.

All in all, not a worthless effort, but I wanted to rip my ears off every time the one guy freaked out.

Ah, yes.  Another in a long line of movies sharing the title THE DAY [SOMETHING HAPPENED].

Oh, mother of God--the co-creator of Designing Women directed a grade-Z horror movie?  Ow, my brain...
