I've got the Criterion edition of Videodrome that is most excellent.

The part I always remember from Demons is the wondrous Deus Ex Machina in the form of the helicopter-through-the-ceiling scene.   

The Gate is a cheese classic but the sequel blew chunks big time.

Only thing I've bought recently The Stunt Man limited edition.  I got a brand new copy on eBay for $6.66 (the price includes shipping).  I've been wanting to see this and it was dirt cheap so I thought I'd give it a go.

What is on the limited edition? I have a copy of the film I picked up at K-Mart when I bought my DVD player, it was one of the first five discs I bought ( I already had some cheapo bin public domain discs). One of my all time favorite films. Although I did think that intro from Richard Rush on the disc I have was pointless and talked down to the audience, glad I can skip past it.

Seen Die Monster Die & The Dunwich Horror nice artifacts of their time, but nothing special.

Eve of Destruction is okay, guess I expected more. Plus Gregory Hines- good actor in drama and comedy, great dancer, not an action hero.

I had the Demons films on tapes from a closing store. Got rid of them in the move, wish I still had them. The virtual plotlessness and lack of characterization of really anybody actually drew me in. Like the people making them said to the audience, " We don't care about these characters and neither do you, so here's the mayhem. Plus the intro of the gang in the first one for fresh meat, and the driving around of the gang in the second only to have them have nothing to do with anything. So cynical I can almost admire it. Just wish they had done more with the shots of the possessed people massing and silhouetted with their eyes glowing. Actually unnerving when it was used in both films. Made me stop laughing and shaking my head when I would see it.

The Gate is a cheesy old favorite of mine.  Lately I've mostly been watching those 10 movies for $11 sets from Brentwood.  Ever read a book that was so bad that it made you want to become an author because you couldn't possibly do worse?  That's sort of the feeling I get watching these movies.

It's two discs, but I think the first disc is exactly the same as the single disc edition.  The second disc has a documentary called The Sinister Saga of Making "Stunt Man", which is also sold individually, but I hear it's not that great.

I watched "Galaxina" last night to start working on the review (and stayed up until about 0100 doing that).  The new print is good, better than the Rhino DVD release.  However, I am wondering about the widescreen bit.  Some things still looked chopped, so I am wondering if it is just hacked full screen.  If I get a chance tonight, I will try to compare the two DVDs.

"Abby" is indeed the alternate "Exorcist" and an entertaining film.  I have not seen it in years (since the kind webmistress of WilliamGirdler.com hooked me up with it), but I look forward to watching the DVD.

Had watched "Demons" over the course of two nights, Tuesday and Wednesday.  It is a fun movie and quite well done for what it is.  The scenes with the creatures emerging from the darkness, walking up the stairs, or coming out of the fog with their glowing eyes were a nice touch.  The one girl, the black-haired friend of the main female character, had an absolute elfin look to her.  If they had made "Lord of the Rings" twenty years ago, she would have been a good choice for Arwen.

The helicopter plummeting through the ceiling was a hilariously funny moment.

Is Videodrome any good? I could never get into Scanners, so I never bothered with videodrome, but I did like the brood.

You probably remember "Galaxina."  It tries to be funny, but mostly it falls flat.  Do you remember the guy from all the Doritos commercials?  (The ones from the 80's.)  He was in "Galaxina."

I have not seen "Videodrome" in something like 18 years.  I remember finding it very freaky, so I am looking forward to watching it again.
