Would Fast Times at Ridgemont High count as a stoner film? Cuz if so, I'd pick that.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I've always been kinda confused on what makes a movie a stoner flick? Is it the way the film is presented or is it about who the main characters are? I've never done drugs so I can't watch and movie and be like "man this movie would be great stoned" but regardless I voted for Big Lebowski because it's a great movie but there were alot of great choices on there.

I got into an arguement with someone over Fast Times at Ridgemont High... I say it's not a stoner flick because the only stoner is Spogoli and his friends and they're not overly important to the plot. They're in the film about as much as the stoner/skater in Clueless so if Fast Times is a stoner flick than I think Clueless would have to be one as well.

Now what about Jay and Silent bob Strike back?

Sure, by this standard, "Better Off Dead" qualifies as an excellent stoner flick, because not only is it very funny and surreal, it has that character who does tons of fake "drugs", eg. snorting jello & then offering the snorting straw to people in the lunch room/snorting real snow, the kind you sled on, etc.
Shoot, I'd vote for "Better Off Dead" as jest a dang fine comedy, period!

"DO YOU REALIZE THE STREET VALUE OF THIS MOUNTAIN!?!?"

Man I love Better Off Dead.  I can't count the times I've watched it.  The claymation burger scene is classic.

To this day, when any amount of change is mentioned in conversation, I always chime in with "I didn't ask for a ____. Two dollars....plus tip."

No one EVER gets the reference.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Sid & Nancy, yet.
Although, I personally, have never really been able to take this film very seriously, I also think it's safe to say that I've known people like this.

In my opinion, Sid & Nancy really captures just how difficult it is to put up with these kinds of people unless you're one of them, & even then, it's based more on mutual unsociality than anything else.

It's ironic how this movie finds a humorous way of expreesing just how unfunny it really is.
