MAROONED (1969) - Wow, this is a real slow paced space nail biter. Three astronauts are marooned in space with only 40+ hours of oxygen. Directed by John Sturges and starring Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna, Gene Hackman, David Janssen, and James Franciscus. Visually great and intensely filmed story that keeps you guessing as to the outcome. Can a rescue in space with almost impossible odds really happen? Amazing film, but you must be patient. Everything about the film is incredible with a very serious tone.

Thumbup Thumbup (9 out of 10 Stars) Perhaps strickly for the N.A.S.A types

I have to say, this one is a snoozer to me.  It ends up being so slow and methodical that I cannot maintain attention.  At least that was the case many years ago.  Perhaps I would do better these days.

I didn't like this film either. Not only was it slow, but it was way too long.

But it was interesting that this film sort of portrayed the Apollo 13 disaster 2 years before it happened.

I enjoyed it myself but agree it is very slow-moving.

Yes, slow moving but it got lots of kudos from NASA for the realistic portrayal of the space program.

Scott must've been watching TCM yesterday. They have been showing movies this weekend that were nominated or won for the Oscar for visual effects. I also caught Dr. Cyclops and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

Your right Trek Geezer. TMC showed MAROONED yesterday and MCQ the day before. Both John Sturges films.

Andrew If I where to find this on TV 15 years ago I would never have watched it.

I also like the whole look of the picture set in 1969. You also have a Russian rendezvous during the rescue. Excellent film once you get into it.
