Well.......they can get fingerprints, retina scans, and now brain scans to figure out your intentions. Line right up. Maybe they will put them over every door way and scan you as you enter any building. Hope they are at least entertained by all this   Smile. Maybe it could be the next reality show with actors to play out your thoughts.

I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

Now we have the ultimate invasion of privacy, and you could possibly be found guilty of intending to commit a crime before you commit it, based on the interpretation of a brain scan by someone who may be predisposed to arbitrarily punishing the people he feels deserve it. Who will scan the scanners? I think this sort of technology is to easy, and too likely to be abused to actually allow it's use. what about the fifth amendment? Wouldn't this be self incrimination? Just because someone may intend to do something doesn't mean that they actually will, for this to actually prevent crime everyone would have to be scanned just to catch a few criminals, I find this idea truly frightening. They had better learn to distinguish between passing thought and true intentions very quickly or we guys will be in trouble every eight seconds.

I really do see this technology being adopted ruthlessly by Reality TV to 'prove' their contestants thoughts.  We've already seen them using lie detectors and the like on Big Brother when asking the housemates questions...

It's really the only logical purpose for something so pointless...

Aw, darn.   I thought this was gonna be a thread about Scanners.

I've been thinking that an animated gif of that guy's head exploding like a balloon would make a fine avatar for this site.

Fiction meets fact. Awhile ago, I was reading a book about a fictional society, where they not only arrested you for what you did, but they also arrested you for what you thought. As they had people that could read your mind. But, I never thought that would happen here. But, it looks like that day is closer than I thought.
