Thunderball Fists?! I can have such a thing?!

Either this is a pretty sick joke, or movie studios are sinking to new lows to promote films. (I was hoping it was the former....). CHUD.com reported that the PR firm that is promoting Jim Carrey's latest film is going a little overboard. The film revolves around tragedy and evil being linked to the number 23, so apparently this firm is looking for tragic news stories that involve the number 23 and including it in promo material! The latest tale of (23) tragedy involves the death of a "23-month old" child, who was beaten and left out in the cold by her father, only to freeze to death overnight. (Here's the actual news story.)

Uh.... anyone else think that this is a really bad idea?  Question

If this is true, yes it is sick. Did you notice the father was 23 years old?

I've seen only one ad for it, which tried to link the number 23 to the 9/11 attacks.  That made me think it was some stupid movie about 9/11.  Honestly, the ad was exactly like one of those "shocking" videos about 9/11 conspiracies people will post on political forums as trolls.

I honestly thought it was going to be a dark comedy about number 23. Nothing serious like its being made out to be.

Poogie, weird, no I didn't notice that the dad was 23 years old.
Rich, apparently Jim Carrey thought the same because he fired his agency after getting the lead role of the film.  BounceGiggle

Sad...but not the first time movies have exploited tragic events to promote films.Al Adamson and Sam Sherman used the Manson murders to promote a number of their films (SATAN's SADIST'"S and the FEMALE BUNCH) as "filmed on the very places where the Manson Family lived their weird lives!" - Spahn Ranch, where Adamson filmed a lot of his cheesy  movies.
