I own a Sony DVD recorder.
HERE IT IS

I was wondering...
Do DVD recorders and burners record the first show/movie starting on the outside edge of the disc and progress inwards towards the center hole as you add more recordings?

Or are the first movies recorded close to the inside of the disc and progress outward?

Think of a vinyl LP record.
We all know that the first song on a record is at the outer edges of the disc because that's where you put the stylus of a record player to begin playback.

Is it the same with DVD's?

When a cd/dvd burns, it burns from the inner ring out.  If you look closely at a burned cd/dvd that isn't full, you can see where the burned information ends, and where the blank portion starts.

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

You know...
I own 20 DVD+RW's for my recorder and I never thought to look at the underside of an "unfinished" DVD.
I've only looked at the underside before anything was recorded onto it and after the disc was full.

Thanks for the help!   Smile
