Well, what appealed to me about Romero's zombies, was that each one was unique.  They all looked different, dressed different...he tried to let each one have a different personality, in a way.  They may have been slow, but if you attracted a big group of them...god help you.   

Mind you, I liked 28 Weeks Later, but the problem with the zombies there, as well as the Dawn of The Dead remake, is that they're all the same...they're all snarling and running around like hyperactive kids, and always attack with the aid of a lot of dizzying, shaky-cam shots.  It's effective at first, but to me it gets a little old after a while.   

But, I guess you have to give those teenagers what they want.

I watched this one a few days ago and loved it.  It was different from the excellent 28 Days Later, but still stayed true to the basic storyline. 

I wouldn't characterise the infected in the movie as zombies, per se.  After all, they're not really dead, just hyped up on rage, hence the reason they run so fast.  And from what I've seen, they don't actually eat the victims, so much as vomit up infected blood on them and rip them apart.

Personally, those guys are way scarier than the Romero shuffling zombies because they can catch you.  Althought, traditional zombies freak me out as well.  And the pace of the action can go from dead calm to frantic fleeing mode in the space of a second.

I like the fact that in this movie the "zombies" evolved.  That's  what you would expect from any virus and it makes sense there would be somebody who has natural immunity.

It made me really mad that the whole reinfection was started by those stupid kids wanting a picture of their mother    I was most upset they didn't get infected in the end.  I also blame the helicopter pilot for taking them out of the quarantine zone.  You can just smell sequel a mile away.

Still, that's good for me.  As long as this franchise keeps up the great stories, I'll keep watching.  I would like the next movie to be about the first movie survivors and what happened to them.

Edit:  Oops!  I just realised that I've already posted that I watched this movie!  Blame it on the fact that I've been on holidays for the last week and I'm still trying to get my head together!
