well from what i know you can get a wireless connection by piggybacking off of neighbors connections, free. i know people who do it. At this time i'm hoping to move soon anyhow to a new complex, if i get around to finding one and i'll have to see what they offer there. I looked into some of the cheapy ISP's but didn't see very many rave customer reviews

Incidentally I also own a trackphone, pay as you go. I just refuse to give in to the consumerist attitude so many of the companies are brainwashing young people to think, that they have to have and buy everything. i guess I figure i work realy hard for my money and i hate to just keep giving it to verizon..lol god knows enough of it is going to my electric company  Buggedout

Check out the Net10 phones. They are the same company as Tracfone, so they use Cingular as a carrier, but they are only 10 cents a minute. The minimum card you can buy is $30 (300 minutes) but that is good for 60 days; and so long as you stay current, your minutes will carry over. I had a Tracfone, but as my use became more, it became too expensive. I had a T-Mobile phone as well, but turning the corner could cause you to lose the signal. The service with my Tracfone was great (I never lost a call) but in comparing it to Net10, after they updated to 60 days on the cards, it was a lot cheaper for the same service. Of course, if you only use like 10 minutes a month, then Tracfone would be cheaper as the cards are good for 120 days. This is presuming you have not optioned for the one year plan with double minutes.

Too bad you don't have a company like IWireless here in Iowa.
Pay $40.00 per month for unlimited calling pretty much anywhere in the state.
And it's not a contract.  You can pay for a month and then stop if you like.

They also offer 7 day, 15 day and 2 month plans.
It's a pretty good deal.

As for internet access, I couldn't imagine using anything but cable or DSL.
I've had cable for several years now.
If I were on dial-up, there are certain things I just wouldn't use...like Myspace etc...

Actually, I think I'd rather go without the internet than use dial-up.
There's just too much waiting on dial-up and it wouldn't be worth the headaches.   Lookingup

Yaddo - what I do is hit the PAUSE on the music on MYSPACE so it will load. Then after a few minutes I'll play it. Otherwise it just keeps freezing.

Thanks for the tip, Susan. I have been pausing the music when on pages rather than listening to it that way. I just haven't been checking back or unpausing it after a few minutes, when browsing or following friend links I don't hang around lots of pages that long any way. That'll come in handy on the MyMusic pages for sure.

Menard, I've heard of Net10 before, might have to look them. I have a Tracfone like Susan. Got it as a backup when BellSouth was taking forever to permanently fix my landline that kept going out whenever it even looked like rain. Now I use it for meeting up when away from home or so I can still be reached in case emergencies while online. My usage is low, about 5 minutes a week at most right now. Don't want bells and whistles, don't need toys on the phone. So pay as you go is fine for now.

I like it for the most part, does get lousy reception in Big Box Stores like Wal-Mart and Lowe's though, I've missed a couple of calls while in places like that. Lots of bars most places and at home, helps that there's a brand new Cingular tower near the house also.

Net10 also uses pretty much the same phones as Tracfone; being they are the same company. No bells and whistles. They, like Tracfone, do have the units left display on the screen.

You can find more here: Net10

Too bad they don't have an affiliate program or I'd have them all over some of my sites. Bluesad

One question for you Myspace users here...

Within the last two weeks, have you been getting a TON of spam friend requests?
These are mostly from women who run private porn sites but some are from regular looking folks who have a secret agenda...to get you to add them to your friends list and then spam your comments area with offers like "Make money by filling out surveys!" or "Get your free gift card now!"

AHHHHH!!

These people should have their computers smashed with a sledgehammer.

I'll go to my page and see that it's been viewed like 20 times in the past 24 hours only to find out that it's spammers who were trying to add me as friends.
Even worse is the fact that these people use programs like the Myspace Friend Adder to send out thousands of bogus requests.
And God forbid if you accidentally add one.  If you do, all of your friends that you have there will be put on their spam list as well.
That sh*t should be illegal.

I never used to get spam like this on Myspace but lately, it's completely out of control.
It's even more infuriating when they spam my deceased brother's memorial Myspace page.
Soulless bastards!  All of them!   Hatred

Anyone else having this same problem lately on Myspace?

Not a lot but a few, but my friend list is small and my page is still pretty plain, not much of a draw.

I got one of the spam ones the other day, got one of the private porn site ones about two weeks ago, got what I figured was another one not long before that. I have got a few friend requests from folks on the MyMusic pages but these look legit, when I've looked at their pages their influences or MyMusic friends often include people I've listed that I listen to or musicians on my friends list.

Then again now Eddie Izzard is on my list, guess he (or his people) were looking to add names as the debut of his FX series got closer. After looking at some of the friends on his list, I'll probably be getting requests from a much weirder group, legit or not.

The only thing that I find useful on Myspace is that it makes it much easier for musicians to get their music out to the masses  (being that I'm a working musician myself.

Other than that, I find the site to be throughly pointless.   But that's just my opinion.

I've been finding that public calendar thingie pretty handy.
Especially for finding out what local musicians are up to.

Does anyone know how to ad a background image to a profile?

Figures the day after I posted I got one each of the kind of junk invites Ash mentioned. A spam one that didn't even pretend to be anything other than spam, the ones I had gotten before at least loooked like legit pages on first glance.

The porn one wanted you to download something call "MS Viewer" I think to see anything other than the small image in the corner. No thanks. If I wanted porn I'd see it out not the other way around. The porn-type invites I got before usually had no image but lots of personal stuff about wanting to meet fun, wild, exciting people, etc.etc.

I never have a problem with porno girls gone wild on myspace. If I see a pretty girl sending me a friend invite, I simply delete them!

pretty girls don't wanna be my friend  Lookingup

I HAVe managed to trim down the amount of nasty boys looking for boom boom by adding a notice on the top of my page. Since then tho the male friend invites pretty much dropped to 0...lol

As for how to add a background image to MYSPACE - you have to save it to photobucket first, unless another site hosts it and allows a direct link. If you need the exact code let me know, i have a lot of sites marked in my Favorites on how to do things. I like a black background, i'm a simple girl with simple needs

but I still like to tweak my page

Hey Viktor, I snuck a look at your page from that link you had in the other thread, and I really liked your work!

What do you use for your music?  I love all that poppy-videogame-type synth stuff you've got going there.

That's awesome , dude!!! Thank you. It really means something to me, to hear that. I use a lot of different software, and VST's to make my music. Fruityloops, Cubase, Cooledit. Recording samples from old tapes and such. Thank you for the interest  TongueOut
