Thanks. I'm going to try to watch THE QUARTERMASS EXPERIMENT tomorrow night.

Spider Baby - Very good "lost" film. A must see for B-movie fans. Might even watch it again tomorrow.  Thumbup

The Quartermass Experiment - Been wanting to see this one for years now.

The Amazing Transparent Man - Not so good. Not so fun.  Thumbdown

We have 5 hours until the show begins.....we'll have to go to the "A & W Rootbeer" and have our burgers and Rootbeer brought to our car to take to the Show. I wonder if they're going to show some good cartoons. I always liked the one where the guy wasn't suppose to make any noise, he'd run up the hill to yell.  BounceGiggle

I definitely agree Spider Baby is a 'must-see' for the members of this board. It's the rare horror-comedy that works in both genres. Lon Chaney, Jr. gives one of his best performances - and sings the theme song! Sid Haig's first appearance ("Ralph? Ralph?")  is truly disturbing. The first time I saw this I was completely thrown off kilter when *slight spoiler* Mantan Moreland, a comic-relief staple of countless 30's and 40's films, is brutally murdered in the first few minutes.

Also: all three of the Hammer Quatermass films are worth a look. The humorless, gruff, all-business scientist Quatermass is an unusual sci-fi hero for the period. This is the first one and it's terrific, with a great finale in Westminster Abbey. The plot's pretty familiar for 50's sci-fi: an astronaut returns to Earth afflicted with a mysterious illness which causes him to transform into... One slightly campy moment has the astronaut punching a cactus, which becomes part of his hand.

The last film in the series, Quatermass and the Pit, has some rather original and disturbing ideas about the origins of man and is (I think) the best.

The Amazing Transparent Man -  feh.

The Quatermass Xperiment isn't a bad movie. It's awesome!

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

STAR TREK ALERT!

Beverly Washburn, the blonde sister in Spider Baby, later played the female crew member who dies from the rapid aging disease in the episode "The Deadly Years".

Spoilers ............................Spoilers...............................Spoilers........................ .....

Was up early enough to catch part of THE QUARTERMASS EXPERIMENT (1953) in the morning. What I saw was some goverment people watching three astronaut looking guys in a chamber on film. The one survivor is in the hospital and not talking. Knocks down a plant or something and gets a fungus. Striking people with his fungus hand they turn to fungus and die. Later he turns into a BLOB (1958) type creature with tentacles. The goverment people kill it with high voltage.
