Herman Stien, composer for many 1950's horror and sci-fi classics ,died March 15,at the age of 91.
This guy was remarkable! I looked up his credits on the IMDB,http://www.imdb.com/.   According to the Chicago Sun Times obit I read,Universal Studios did not give on screen credit for most of his work, simply because of regulations of some dumbass sort or another!

Dang. I can't get the link to work...well he did the Creature of the Black Lagoon, It came from Outer Space,Tarantula,King Kong vs. Godzilla, the Incredible Shrinking Man, the Mole People,This Island Earth and soooo many more...!

Sad news! Thanks for posting this.

Stein wrote some really great music. You never knew where that Creature from the Black Lagoon music would turn up: like in Dracula vs. Frankenstein. The independent lable 'Monstrous Movie Music' has released several great new recordings of Stein's music.

The last couple of years have been rought on these horror/sci-fi film composers: Jerry Goldsmith (Planet of the Apes), Elmer Bernstein (Robot Monster  Smile ), and Akira Ifukube (Godzilla) have all passed away.
