Jim Cornette Shoot Interview - Inside The Ropes July 2013 Small | Large

Jim Cornette has some very interesting and insightful things to say. I think he really hits the nail on the head with most everything. I do want serious wrestling to come back, not that I ever think it will happen. I want to believe that perhaps guys really do hate each other and really want to fight out there. I want to be able to suspend my disbelief and pretend it's all real the way we used to be able to do so back in the day.

WWF Ivory on being pushed

Probably NSFW

This was a very entertaining shoot by Ivory where she really makes a few good points. I really think she was the most talented lady wrestler of the 90s along with Molly Holly and Jazz who aren't too far behind. As over as Lita and Trish were, I don't think either were truly as talented in the ring.

I've heard that Wrestlemania IV was complete garbage. Which Wrestlemanias are good and which suck?

I think the best Wrestlemanias are 10, 14, 16, 17, 19, 21, 22, 29 and 30.

Avoid Wrestlemanias 2, 9, 11 and 12.

I love Wrestlemania 3 (Savage-Steamboat, Andre-Hogan, Piper-Adonis, Jake the Snake vs. Honky Tonk Man)

I also have a soft spot for Wrestlemania 1 as it was the first event and it has lots of memorable moments (no great shakes matches but great nostalgia for me watching it). I rather liked 12 myself (Hart-HBK Iron Man, Taker-Diesel, Piper-Goldust)...

Here's how I'd rank the Wrestlemanias (9, 11, 2 & 21 are clearly the worst of the worst...I can bear 4 because Macho Man wins the WWF title but it's a drag to watch all in one sitting  - consider those the 5 worst Wrestlemanias {21 is pretty watchable too though...only 9, 11 & 2 are really tough to get through and some would probably find 4 tough too})<I'll throw in the best matches too, bolded one I consider best match>:

1) 17 {Austin vs. Rock, Angle vs. Benoit, TLC, McMahons}
2) 25 {Undertaker vs. HBK, HHH vs. Orton, Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show}
3) 8   {Flair vs. Savage, Piper vs. Hart}
4) 19  {HBK vs. Y2J, Lesnar vs. Angle, Hogan vs. McMahon, HHH vs. Booker}
5) 3    {Savage vs. Steamboat, Hogan vs. Andre, Piper vs. Adonis, Roberts vs. Honky}
6) 26  {HBK vs. Undertaker, Cena vs. Batista, Mysterio vs. Punk}
7) 24  {HBK vs. Flair, Undertaker vs. Edge}
8) 10  {HBK vs. Razor, Bret vs. Owen}
9) 15  {Rock vs. Austin, Shane vs. X-Pac, Kane vs. HHH}
10) 18 {Rock vs. Hogan, Undertaker vs. Flair, Jazz vs. Trish vs. Lita, HHH vs. Y2J}
11) 12 {Hart vs. HBK, Diesel vs. Undertaker, Piper vs. Goldust}
12) 28 {HHH vs. Undertaker, Punk vs. Y2J, Rock vs. Cena}
13) 14 {HBK vs. Austin, Undertaker vs. Kane, Rock vs. Shamrock, Dumpster Match}
14) 13 {Austin vs. Hart} = arguably the best match in Wrestlemania history
15) 29 {Punk vs. Undertaker, HHH vs. Lesnar, Rock vs. Cena}
16) 20  {HBK vs. HHH vs. Benoit, Eddie vs. Angle, Christian vs. Y2J, Victoria vs. Molly}
17) 30 {Daniel Bryan vs. HHH, Bryan vs. Batista vs. Orton, Wyatt vs. Cena, Lesnar vs. Undertaker}
18) 7   {Warrior vs. Savage, Hogan vs. Slaughter, Virgil vs. DiBiase}
19) 1   {Hogan & T vs. Piper & Orndorff, Richter vs. Kai, Andre vs. Studd, JYD vs. Valentine, US Express vs. Sheik/Volkoff}
20) 22  {Cena vs. HHH, Edge vs. Mick Foley, HBK vs. McMahon, Mickie vs. Trish}
21) 23  {Cena vs. HBK, Undertaker vs. Batista}
22) 16  {Hardys vs. Dudleys vs. Edge/Christian, Benoit vs. Jericho vs. Angle, Fatal4Way}
23) 27  {HHH vs. Undertaker, Orton vs. Punk}
24) 6    {Warrior vs. Hogan, Demolition vs. Andre/Haku}
25) 5    {Hogan vs. Savage, Rude vs. Warrior, Demolition vs. Powers of Pain}
26) 4    {Savage vs. DiBiase, Demolition vs. Strike Force, Battle Royal, Savage vs. Valentine, Steamboat vs. Valentine, Rude vs. Roberts}  - this card does feel like a marathon though with some slow matches and lots of forgettable short ones too
27) 21  {Batista vs. HHH, Angle vs. HBK, Mysterio vs. Eddie}
28) 2    {Bulldogs vs. Dream Team, Hogan vs. Bundy, Battle Royal}
29) 11  {Diesel vs. HBK, Hart vs. Backlund}
30) 9    {HBK vs. Tatanka, Steiners vs. Headshrinkers}

But... The Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalez was at WM9, that was awesome!

as far as my favorite I'll go with Wrestlemania 6. The Ultimate Warrior defeated Hulk Hogan

I don't 'hate' today's product.  It's got sparks of entertainment.  The Rhodes brothers are fun.  Dean Ambrose.  Seth Rollins.  Lesnar.  I just think 3-hour shows are too long.  Not utilizing the lower card hurts, too.  The Attitude Era had a storyline for EVERYONE.  Even groups like the Oddities.

There's too much comedy nowadays...that should be limited to just 1 or 2 matches per show, preferably after a serious match or a serious situation. Leave it to guys like Santino and Slater. Right now I'm just grateful to get short diva matches instead of the usual comedy routines. I'm especially tired of the Adam Rose stuff. They should bring back the Hardcore title or perhaps create a Television title...there needs to be something for lower card guys to battle for...NWA/WCW had many great matches over the TV title back in the day. Imagine if we could get 10 minute matches like we used to get from William Regal back in his WCW days...(who could pull that off out of WWE's lower card talent?...maybe a guy like Tyson Kidd?)

Lord Steven Regal vs Charlie Norris - WCW World Television Title Small | Large

13 would probably have been the worst Wrestlemania except we get perhaps the best match on Wrestlemania history in Austin vs. Hart and the Undertaker wins the WWF title...I still consider 9 the worst, the Yokozuna-Hart main event is disappointing and the handing over the title to Hogan was ridiculous instead of saving it for the next PPV...the best matches are on the undercard and clearly Gonzales is perhaps the worst wrestler in history to feature so heavily against Undertaker but Taker tries his best.
