Is Pro Wrestling dead? Not sports entertainment but traditional pro wrestling?

A more modern take on the classic Coliseum Video intro.

Old WWF Coliseum Home Video Intro with New Footage

I still prefer the original though...

It's sad - but yeah... I think 'traditional pro' is long gone.

What's funny is that pro wrestling, at its heights, drew far more than sports entertainment ever has (Look at the crowd Rogers-O'Connor drew, Gotch-Hackenschmidt, Mid-South and Memphis, World Class in Texas, WWF supershows at Shea Stadium, MSG, etc.)....the TV ratings for classic wrestling shows such as for World Class and other feds were actually much higher than the modern TV ratings for Raw or Smackdown....and more people generally went to watch the shows too. Not saying WWE doesn't still sometimes draw huge crowds and make good money but honestly it doesn't compare to the regular money brought in by pro wrestling at its heights and with far more wrestlers employed in the many different territories. Cornette is right about a lot of what he's talking about...

With the expansion of the WWF, the expansion of the NWA and Ted Turner's bucks spent on WCW, wrestling became all about show , swallowing up territories, fierce competition putting rivals under, and the traditional wrestling model that worked from the 1920s through the 1980s was  more or less forgotten....

Andy Kaufman should be in the celebrity wing of WWE's Hall of Fame.  Perfect heel.

WWE: John Cena Gets "Boring" Chant, Raw, 05/08/13

Those fans express how I generally feel about WWE these days...it's BORING as hell! They really need to add some edge or attitude, something. Somebody there needs some charisma and fast. Total dullsville nowadays for the most part.

More wrestlers should follow CM Punk's example, save your money and retire before being brought down by injury, addiction or worse. The last WWE wrestler who actually wasn't boring...(or at least wasn't predictable).
