Raw was a pretty disappointing show last night. Everything's so predictable nowadays...yawn. John Cena as the Shield's surprise tag partner wasn't particularly surprising. The segments with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose were all pretty well done, the rest of the show's segments not so much so. They have stripped Daniel Bryan of the WWE World title to put it up for grab in the Money in the Bank match
The matches themselves were either pretty good or pointless. Just a rundown of the show:
Money in the Bank World Title match Qualifier: Bad News Barrett vs. Sheamus: This was actually a pretty solid match, a good brawl, arguably the show stealing match of the night. Weird though to get the US Champ vs. the Intercontinental Champ in such a match. Sheamus won so I guess the I-C title gets defended at Money in the Bank.
Zack Ryder vs. Rusev. Ryder is the next glorified jobber to fall to Rusev. They're still building him up nicely as a monster heel. Kind of a lame match though. They could do more with Ryder. He should have got in something in the match but really didn't.
Goldust/R-Truth vs. Rybaxel: They continued the whole pointless split between Cody and Goldust with Goldie partnering with different partners and predictably losing to Rybaxel. Yawn! Beside Rybaxel being terrible and boring, this whole split with the Rhodes is pointless. They should have just turned them heel which would make them a much more serious threat to the Usos. Actually I hope they still do a surprise turn with the Rhodes on the Usos. I think that could be done quite well. Instead they'll probably just split them up and put them in a pointless feud.
The Shield (now of Reigns and Ambrose) attacking 3MB and the interview that followed was the best segment of the night.
The Usos vs. Fandango and interpretative dance Damien Sandow was ridiculous. Sandow has obviously ticked off someone higher up as is routinely humiliated each and every week. What a waste of a great talent. Usos predictably win at the expense of paying his dues Sandow.
Xavier Woods vs. Bo Dallas. Now I like Bo Dallas and his gimmick. I think it's working pretty well. Woods on the other hand along with R-Truth and even Kofi Kingston these days has been relegated to the glorified jobber squad. Waste of a talent there who was actually a pretty solid hand in NXT. Bo needs to start facing someone a little more challenging soon. OK match in terms of building Bo but not much else.
Money in the Bank World Title match Qualifier: Cesaro vs. Rob Van Dam. Yeah, RVD vs. Cesaro yet again. We've seen it a bit too much lately. Still it was a good match with both wrestlers looking good at different points. Heyman was great on the mic as usual.
The Seth Rollins - Michael Cole segment was pretty well done but John Cena being the surprise partner of the Shield against the Wyatts was kind of disappointing.
Paige vs. Alicia Fox was actually one of the better matches of the night although there were a few blown spots. Aksana being at ringside made it a little more interesting and Fox had another entertaining meltdown post match after Paige won with her submission hold.
Santino Marella vs. Jack Swagger. Completely pointless match we've seen much too often in the past although the right guy actually went over and Zeb Colter's signs were entertaining. Swagger needs a new tag partner as he is going nowhere as a singles guy.
John Cena, Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. The Wyatt Family. It was a solid main event, pretty good match overall. Just disappointing to see John Cena so mixed up with the Shield and honestly I hoped the feud with the Wyatts was over. Still a good match. Ambrose & Reigns though need a new partner if the split with Rollins is to continue IMO. I think Corey Graves from NXT would potentially make a great choice and he also has history with Rollins.
