Fortunato is, of course, from Poe's "Cask of Amontillado."
One of my favorite stories In pace requiescat!

I was born November 1st, All Saint's Day, what was once called Allhallowsday; the day after Halloween, or, All Hallow's Even, anciently "Samhain" (not pronounced anything like it's spelled).  I had to hit 40 to realize that Halloween is my new year's eve.  Hence, I am Allhallowsday.

figured it was simple enough to use my initials.

No way!
I have to admit to you RAJ...
This entire time I've known you online here, something like 5 years now, I presumed that you were an Indian-American.
Not Native-American...
But from India.

I don't know...I hear the name "RAJ" and I think Indian or Middle Eastern.

As for my screen name.
It goes back to

I had a cat.
His name was Ash.
I created my Internet handle Ashthecat.
I used that for years.
Then I shortened it to Ash.

End of story.   Smile

To Trevor: Yes, a fellow African! I'm not the only one (my last name is Moses too, no relation, though) Smile.  As for my member name, I'll break it down like this:

Angel-- I'm a nice guy (not a saint)
75-- my year

Years back when I first got internet access, I went to register at the forums at the Scifi channel. I wanted to use the name of a comic book character I had created, Darkfyre. Alas, someone had already taken that name. I thought a little bit and went with Shadowfyre. The name kind of grew on me. I began using that name on other boards and pretty soon I preferred it to Darkfyre. It got to the point where people just began calling me Shadow and that nickname stuck. Even my wife calls me that most of the time now.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

When you reply to someone with a quote, it does help to place your reply outside of the quote. This serves a dual purpose of not confusing people and making your point seen.

Cute attempt at trying to be vulgar; for a three year old. Practice some more.

Does this mean that BlackAngel's avatar is going to show up in your posts now, as does Zaps?  Wait....that might be a bit confusing.   Wink

It is not as if we often suffer from a lot of clarity (or even lucidity) around here.

Anyone who has ever seen Forbidden Zone knows where I got my name. I just like the sound of it. The only thing that scares me is that people will see it and think I look like Herve Vellachaize, which is not the case. I did used to refer to myself as being the "King of the Sixth Dimension" on myspace, the Sixth Dimension in this case being a state of mind rather than an actual place. I would make all my college friends knights and would write blogs referring to the various messed-up adventures that took place between classes. It was almost like roleplaying, except it wasnt serious and we just made stuff up as we went along; I would post royal bulletins about what was going on, and they would post comments in response.  TeddyR

I have long had an amusement for the dynamics of language, the subtleties of English in particular.  Some years back, I found myself with a free domain credit and in search of a name.  I made two large lists, one consisting of adjectives, the other nouns, and wrote a computer program to spit out random combinations at the push of a button.  It came up with some catchy but meaningless phrases before creating "Dodging Grunge".

It occurred to me that the apathy at the core of grunge culture had a potential weakening affect on adjectives associated with it.  As such, "Dodging Grunge" could both describe one in a state of non-grunge, as it is being dodged, but it could also apply equally well to someone grungy who *attempted* to dodge it, but well, gave up and had a burrito instead.

My real name, in case you couldn't gather from my gaudy signature, is Josh.  OoOoh!
