I think that's not an answerable question.

My vote, though, is probably either your vote, or perhaps, Unforgiven.

There is a dark, inexorable majesty to the fall of William Munny back into his old ways.   The moment when the prostitute rides out to him to tell him that Ned was killed, and wordlessly, Eastwood turns and picks up the whiskey, starts drinking it seriously and grimly.    All the meekness and self-doubt just goes, and the old anger is all right back there, you can see it in the lines in his face -- a killer's face.       And then the last gunfight.   "Deserve's got nothin' to do with it," and Hackman's character gets the shotgun in cold blood.         Vengeance in cold rain -- Eastwood looking as old and etched as a legend.  Awesome.  There isn't and hasn't been any actor in a Western who could do a movie like that one, showing the shades of gray so well.

Once Upon a Time in the West was very good, also.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly gets my vote and it's also one of my all-time favorite films.  I've been trying to watch more westerns lately.  The only other Leone western I've seen is Once Upon a Time in the West which is also fantastic.

I've been getting more interested in Westerns too for the last year or so.  Favorite is probably The Outlaw Josey Wales, though Clint's Man With No Name trilogy is awesome as well.  Once Upon A Time In The West is another good one.  Also Pale Rider.

My favs:

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (the most epic Western ever made)
The Magnificent Seven (all-star cast, great music and story...and a remake to boot!)
The Quick and the Dead (pure popcorn western)
Gunslinger (laughably bad western with John Ireland's glowing hands and ability to teleport himself all over town)  BounceGiggle
High Noon (Gary Cooper, Lee Van Cleef, Grace Kelly, Lloyd Bridges et al.  A good look at human nature, plus a cool gimick [movie is shown in near-real time])

I wish someone would make another (good) western.  Open Range (2003) was okay but not great.

The Unforgiven is the only western I've seen more than once. I hate that genre.

I'd say either "The good, the bad and the ugly" or "Once upon a time in the west". Close seconds would be "The otlaw Jossie Wales", "Unforgiven", "Ride the High Country" and even spaghetti westerns such as "Tepepa" or "The big gundown".

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.
