HELP! WE ARE STUCK IN A GOOD MOVIE!!!

« Reply #646 on: April 06, 2008, 08:14:30 AM »

I just got "Quest for the lost City", the other name is the "Final Sacrifice".  Some of you might remember watching it on MST3k.  I loved it.  "Rowsdower".  I paid .49 cents for it, but the shipping is going to be around $5.00.  Oh well, this is a movie I have been wanting an could never find.  Next on the list is "The Puma Man". Cheers

In the last few days, I got:

Two "new" VHS tapes (Master Ninja, Time Walker)

1 new DVD as a trade at my local FYE for a misbegotten purchase on FYE.com - (was supposed to get the '80 DVD of the Japanese disaster movie Virus, instead got a same-titled Brian Bosworth crapfest.  Got fed up and traded it for a same-priced copy of the Anniversary Collector's Edition of Jaws).

Just got a new computer - 140 GB HD, 1 MB video mem, DVD+/CD burner, Windows Vista

Oh, and also got gifted a used van - '87 , gas guzzler but hey, it runs!

I told myself to stay away from electronics on my trip to Wal-Mart tonight, and I drove home with Penny Dreadful.

The Arrival/The Arrival 2 -- I forgot how good The Arrival really is.  It's not perfect (the scorpion bit is a little cheesy), but it's one of the better sci-fi flicks around.  Haven't watched the sequel but I'm sure it's nothing special.

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen -- The new special edition is great (ugly cover art aside), but I had trouble finding in stores.  I found a single copy at Best Buy.

Hey, where'd you get that???  Just kidding, don't answer that question!

Some of the joy of the hunt is gone, now that everything is available on YouTube.  (Until it gets taken down, and we have to wait ten minutes until someone puts up the next copy).  But an actual physical copy of SUPERSTAR with homemade artwork is still a rarity.

I though this one had ROBOT MONSTER on it, but it turned out I carelessly ordered the wrong 50 pack.  Oh well, I still get to see HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND and 49 other pieces of $#!^.

The 50 movie packs are good for seeing a lot of movies for an inexpensive price, but I tend to track down the best versions available of some classics.  The Image DVD of "Robot Monster" is definitely better than other releases I have seen.  Their "Horrors of Spider Island" print is a whole lot better too.

I ordered "The Killer Shrews/Giant Gila Monster" DVD set by Legend the other day.

OK, so I watched the Tripping The Rift: the movie last night with my girl, odd thing was that she loved it way more than I did and I'm the one who watches the TV show religiously. Perhaps thats what it was, the movie was good, damn hillarious even cut compared to the show it seemed a little tapered down, like Chloe was on a bottle of Nyquil for the whole thing or something. I dunno but none the less I enjoyed just thought I'd enjoy it more. But seeing as how my girl thought it was the funnies thing since the Mc Rib, its probably a lot better than I'm giving it credit for.
