Most recent DVD purchase:
2 Mill Creek 20-pack box sets -- 40 films for $12, or 30 cents each.
20 Cult Classics and . . .
20 Strange Tales.
I won't list all 40 films, as I'm lazy and that's a lot of typing, but, the films include:
The Terror of Tiny Town
Sex Madness
Night of The Blood Beast
Warriors of The Wasteland
Prisoners of The Lost Universe (Unbelievably bad!!  Worth the $12 alone!!)
Terror Creatures From The Grave
Omoo-Omoo The Shark God (I mean, the title alone . . .)
Slaves in Bondage
* * *
You get the idea -- still have not watched all 40.
Bliss . . . hot

Your second and third are modern classics and a recommendation for any self-proclaimed bad movie lover's collection. That last one's hit or miss depending on where you stand with the individual movies (from best to worst: 3, 1, 4, 6, 5, 2) and I haven't seen the first one yet, but you can't go wrong with a Herve Villechaize movie, right?

That hot dog really cracks me up for some reason. I think it's the pleasant manner in which Raffine presented it.  And I totally forgot about Fruit Stripes until seeing that. Now I wants some.

In roughly the past 30 days...

-For Your Height Only and Challenge Of The Tiger-
This had a room full of friends crying from laughter almost the entire length of the disk.

-Lady Terminator-
The sweetest mullet you'll ever see is in this movie. Some of the parallels this takes with Arnie's Terminator is priceless. And she loves shooting dudes in the nuts. Nuf said.

-Virgins From Hell-
Big fake guns are awesome.

-French Sex Murders-
I've been on a Mondo Macabro kick.

-Conquest-
Driftwood nun chucks? Check.

-Switchblade Sisters-
I love me some Jack Hill.

And I'd eat that dog. If only because it would be funny.

Welcome!  please accept this complementary hotdog!  Smile
Are you sure that's not a bubblegum cigar?  Yech! Twirling

In the last week I received by mail:
DEATHDREAM (aka DEAD OF NIGHT 1974) identified for me on this site, a true "grindhouse" 70s classic mixing scary horror, disturbing artistry, and social commentary.  As creepy and sad as I remembered with an absurdly perfect and stunning ending.   Thumbup

SONG OF THE SOUTH (1946) unavailable stateside, I used my Bidnapper in an ebay auction to get it at the right price (too much!) but it's for my brother.  In a cheaply produced case with a nearly damp inkjet-like program inside, this transfer was definitely from a less than perfectly preserved film source, but it was all there in rich color with decent sound.  Not worth the bread and kind of boring, its hardly as offensive as one might expect, tame really, but we live in a strangely self conscious or guilty age.    hot

NIGHTMARES FROM THE CRYPT, a cheapo dvd 20 movie collection that arrived today.  I went for this because it includes DEAD PEOPLE (aka MESSIAH OF EVIL).  All this talk of GRINDHOUSE features made me seek a few favorites (so many are unavailable) but 20 flix for the price?  How could I not?  I hope that one is a good copy, but this colleciton also includes HORROR HOTEL (aka CITY OF THE DEAD) MOON OF THE WOLF, SISTERS OF DEATH, DONINIQUE IS DEAD, DEVIL'S NIGHTMARE, CHRISTMAS EVIL, DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT, HOUSE ON THE EDGE OF THE PARK, LADY FRANKENSTEIN, THE WEREWOLF AND THE VAMPIRE WOMAN...anybody familiar with any of these?  I've seen maybe two, plus there are a ton more all for $5.97 including shipping.

Definitely looking forward to WEREWOLF vs VAMP WOMEN!

HORROR HOTEL and DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT I both know especially HORROR HOTEL but its
easily been 30 years since I've looked at either.

I just hope they're good copies . . . !

There was a 'Deluxe' letterboxed edition of HORROR HOTEL released a couple of years ago under the original title of CITY OF THE DEAD.
It sells for around ten bucks.

Amazon lists these special features:
DVD Features:
Available Audio Tracks: English (PCM Mono)
Commentary by: director John Llewellyn MoxeyUnknown Format
2 minutes of footage deleted from the U.S. version
Production stills
Cast biographies
Interview with John Llewellyn Moxey
DVD cover printed on both sides with two different cover designs--you pick the one you like best!

I have it but I honestly haven't compared it to my old VHS copy.

It is a great film, no matter what 'Deluxe' format it's in!

I've been downloadin' lots o' stuff thanks to the magic of torrents, but here's what I've bought in recent weeks:

All Quiet On the Western Front
The Trial/Escape from Sobibor--Cheapo $1 DVD from the fine folks at Digiview!  The runtime for each of these films is listed incorrectly, and it mentions that The Trial is suitable for all ages even though it has some mild profanity, mature and strange subject matter/istuations, and it's damn confusing.  It's an awesome film, though.  Haven't watched the other one.
