Finally picked up Bodyguard Kiba 2: Apocalypse of Carnage. Here's hoping I didn't make a mistake.

I ordered The Shawshank Redemption and Sinbad: Son of a Preacher Man recently.  I went to Big Lots and bought the Essential Ernest Collection . Drink

I'm think I might go back and pick up some of their Mill Creek collections.

This board could probably support a whole seperate page for those of us who collect these things.  TeddyR

There's a couple of new horror-themed 50 packs out: "Night Screams" and the intriguing "Decrepit Crypt of Nightmares" Pendulum Pictures one.

Went to the new best buy in the area to pick up Hot Fuzz...which they didn't have.  That's another story for another post.  Anyway, I looked around and found this set for about 14.00!  I originally picked it up only because it has The Being which is a film I haven't watched in years.  I still have an old ThornEMI VHS release around here somewhere.

Didn't realize till I got in the car that The Dark and Creatures From The Abyss are included.  I've always wanted to check out The Dark and Creatures looks fantastically silly if Andrew's review is any indication of it's quality.

I'm quite happy with the Martial Arts 50 Movie Pack, and look forward to picking up others sometime soon. As long as you don't expect world-class quality, they're well worth the price.

On the way home from work Tuesday I picked up The 300, so far I've watched 3 times, even my wife likes it. It's not very historically accurate, but the fact that the story is being told by one Spartan warrior to the Spartan Army just before the battle of Platea explains why there are embellishments. When I'm done here I'll probably watch it again.

On my travels in Europe (Germany and Austria) I managed to get a total of 40 movies. Granted, they are all in german (mostly) and they are bargain dvds, but 40 movies is 40 movies.

^Comes with English version

^I got a different version, but the artwork is the same. I suck at german, but Im pretty sure it means like "Only one comes Back".

^The best copy of this around with tons of features like original Japanese language and foreign trailers!

^ Roughly translated as "Journey in the World". Its a stop-motion history of the planet.

^ This contains:
Junk
Fright Night (Coppola Movie)
Demonia
Braindead (with Bill Paxton)
Mothers Day
Blood Angel 2
Killer Crocodile (Very Pleased with this one)
Changeling 2: The Return (UK Title the original is Fino alla morte and is By Lamberto Bava)

^Contains:
The Child
Death Academy (?)
Password (recent movie not on Imdb)
In the Woods
The Case of the Scorpions Tail
The Bagman (not the cool short film the crappy 2002 independent film)
Changeling 2: The Return (UK Title the original is Fino alla morte and is By Lamberto Bava)-again!
Score 2-The Big Fight (some japanese action movie)

^contains
Dead Men Don't Die
Junk (again!)
Night of the Demon (Donald sutherand should be in this movie)
Blood Angel 2 (Again!)
Children of the Corn (in german!)
Rawhead Rex
Dance of the Demons
Totem

^Contains
Space Raiders (by Roger Corman and has the Battle Beyond the Stars music)
Space Rangers
Invasion part 1
Gangland L.A.
Mysterious Planet
Spy High
Invasion Part 2
The Philidelphia Experiment

And I also bought a Boris Karloff Box set featuring these films:
Alien Terror
Cult of the Dead
Dance of Death
The Torture Zone
(his four final films with the mexicans)

ASnd those are all the movies I got while on vacation!

Enjoying the dickens out of my Fleischer Popeye collection. The very early ones are great, but the series really kick into high gear once the voice combination of Jack Mercer (Popeye), Mae Questel (OLive Oyl), and Gus Wickie (Bluto) solidifies around the twentieth cartoon. After years of scratched, dupped prints the remastered versions of the two-reel Technicolor films like Popeye Meets Sinbad the Sailor are a revelation. They actually look better than anything Disney (or anybody else) was producing at the time.

FUN FACT: When Mercer was serving in WWII the voice of Popeye was provided by... Mae Questel!

Latest additions:

THE HOST

Herschell Gordon Lewis 'Blood Trilogy' Collection:
BLOOD FEAST
TWO THOUSAND MANIACS
COLOR ME BLOOD RED

Herschell Gordon Lewis Collection:
THE GRUESOME TWOSOME
THE WIZARD OF GORE
SHE-DEVILS ON WHEELS
THE GORE GORE GIRLS
SOMETHING WEIRD
A TASTE OF BLOOD

SHE- DEVILS is the only one I've seen in many years, so I'm looking forward to revisting all of these old fiends soon.

The Tick vs. Season Two.

I'm peeved yet again that Buenva Vista left off another episode off of the Season 2 set. Episode 15 "Alone Together" is nowhere to be found but in their defense they do list on the package that that episode isn't included.

They left off the Mole Men episode off of Season 1 for "legal issues" which wasn't that huge of a loss as it's probably the weakest episode of the 3 season run of the show.

But the Alone Together episode is funny as hell. Kind of a Fantastic Four spoof. I guess I shouldn't complain too much as at least they're releasing them on DVD in some form.  I wish that they would spend more restoration money though so that the colors didn't look so washed out at times.
