The Bela Lugosi Collection

I am now a big Lugosi fan because of these movies. It includes:

Murders in the Rue Morgue: The best in the collection.

The Black Cat: Awesome. The Second best.

The Raven: A little slow at times, but it's still a great film. Rank: 3rd best.

The Invisible Ray: Good acting, but the plot wasn't very interesting. It's the weakest one in the collection.

Black Friday: Excellent flick.

Well most of the time.  Sometimes it becomes eyerolling and hard to understand.  Take Kraken for example.  Damn Squid eats 10 people in less than 24 hours.  Must have the quickest digestive system since the squid isn't that big at all compared to real life giant squids.

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

A whole new level of horror: giant bulimic squids.  Yish.

The Bela Lugosi Collection

Welcome to the wonderful world of Lugosi!

THE RAVEN is a bit slow when Lugosi and Karloff are not onscreen, but it does feature one of Lugosi's looniest performances ("POE! YOU ARE AVENGED!").

Now you get to discover his fun 'Poverty Row' films like THE APE MAN, THE DEVIL BAT, and THE INVISIBLE GHOST. The films are very low budget but there's lots of Lugosi in 'em. There are many collections out there of these films, usually for a very cheap price.

It's not a purchase, but I have "Pieces" coming in the mail through Netflix. Someone on here posted a trailer months ago and I'm super pumped to watch it.

Rev, did you hit up Barnes & Noble's Criterion sale?  That Brakhage set was tempting.

I picked up Seven Samurai on Blu-ray.

Also a couple movies from Big Lots:

Yeah, I got them from B&N.  I had planned to buy them anyway and I just lucked into the sale.
