Don't know whether to post this in the TV or movie section, so here it goes....

MST3K Volume XVII

Movies mocked:

The Crawling Eye: The worst of the four in my opinion. Despite having cool creatures, the majority of the movie made me want to fall asleep.

The Beatniks: As lame and as corny as "The Beatniks" was, I couldn't help but enjoy the stupidity of the movie.

The Final Sacrifice: Ah, a canadian film. Not the worst movie I've ever seen. For the most part, it's a decent little cult flick.

Blood Waters of Dr Z (aka Zaat): I actually really enjoyed this movie. Maybe it's because of the cheesy monster costume or the bikini clad chick or that odd psychadelic music. Ah whatever, it was cool nonetheless.

- Volume 18
Movies included:

Lost Continent- A military mission to recover a fallen American rocket turns into a fight for survival after the rescue team finds themselves faced with dangerous creatures long since believed to be extinct.  Lots of rock climbing.  Stars Hugh Beaumont (Leave it To Beaver) and Cesar Romero (Joker from '60s Batman tv show.)

The Beast of Yucca Flats- Tor Johnson as a Russian scientist defecting to America.  Becomes monster.  Lots of driving.  Cute bunny rabbit.  Directed by Coleman Francis.

Jack Frost- Russian/Finnish fairy tale of two kids in love but first they must conquer the evils of Witches, Mushroom Men, walking talking trees, and the guy being turned into a bear.  Odd odd movie.

Crash of The Moons- Stars John Banner of Hogan's Heroes.  Two inhabited moons will collide with each other unless Rocky Jones and Winky can stop it!  Terrible movie.  Padded out with an episode of General Hospital.

Not a purchase, but a Christmas gift from my cousin-some horror movie box set with over 50 movies on it. It has a colorized photo of Lon Chaney's Phantom Of The Opera on the cover. The movie itself is in the set, I only hope it's not colorized.

Just went on a purchasing spree of movies that I've seen a million times, but recently saw again (in shortened form) at the monthly Horror Remix (love the Horror Remix!):

Graduation Day
Christmas Evil
The Majorettes
The Initiation
Rock N Roll Nightmare
The Dark Power
and a box set of 5 movies that includes Memorial Valley Massacre

Can you tell I love cheesy 80's slashers?  With all of the ones that I own, I was actually surprised that it took me so long to add these to my collection.

I also received Chopping Mall (one of my all time favs) for Christmas to replace a lost copy that I previously had...

Finally broke down and bought a used copy of The Room today, but ONLY because Tommy Wiseau is coming to town soon, so I figured I'd better get it signed.  I say ONLY, not because I'm ashamed of liking it (I LOVE it), but because it's not a movie that I feel that I could ever sit at home and watch (it needs an audience).

Roger Corman Cult Classics.  Saw The Terror Within a while ago and it was pretty good.  Never seen Dead Space though.  I've seen another movie named Dead Space, but not this one  Smile
