Short 1, 2, 3 and 10 DVD's for a buck each!
Patlabor the Movie limited edition
Patlabor the Movie 2 limited edition

The Patlabor sets are really handsome and come with a book of complete storyboards and a book of interviews, artwork, etc.  Here's a better look:

I found these brand new at Half Price Books for about 10 bucks each.  It was an impulse buy but I'm happy with it.  These things used to retail for $89.99!  You can get them cheaply on Amazon and eBay right now, too.

I was always debating about buying this because I loved the first two movies and also really like the "restored workprint version" of the third (I'll just not mention the fourth), but on the other hand I've seen Alien and Aliens so many times I've practically got all the dialogue memorized at this point.  But oh well, they'll look awesome on Blu ray I'm sure  Smile

Time for another 50 pack:

I blame these things for ruining whatever minuscule amount of taste I may once have had.

I never understood the appeal of begotten. I read about it, tried to watch it, witnessed it's strangeness, appreciated it's somewhat disturbing imagery, and got bored to hell after only a few minutes, and fast forwarded through the rest.

Why do people enjoy this movie?

I like it because of the reasons you've mentioned. It can drag a little bit but to me it's worth watching. I appreciate the work that was put into it. 1 minute of the original film took 10 hours to rephotograph to look the way it does. I like the story and the way it's told. You have to figure it out for yourself on what's happening, nothing is given to you when you watch it. So I appreciate that. But that's just me. :)
