I don't like RAVEN...   Bluesad  I listened since FatFreddysCat was on a binge of such.  We often overlap with Rock.
I like this song though: "Don't Need Your Money"

Now these guys are bad enough they're fun to listen to:  COSMIC DEALER Crystallization 1972

Fantastically over-produced, I figured it out!  They should be called MOUNTAIN OUSPINAL TAPFINGERTULL... unlike SPINAL TAP who knew they were clowns, these Bozos are EARNEST.  Without the "ie" or Burt.

Sorry you didn't dig RAVEN, AHD ... my obsession with them continued today cuz I hit a CD store (remember those) and picked up their semi-legendary 1984 concert disc LIVE AT THE INFERNO on CD... which was the LAST of their albums I needed on disc... I can close out that collection for good now! Woohoo!

I also picked up an oldie by the Swiss hard rock band KROKUS, "Heart Attack" from 1988 - I was not familiar with this particular album but it's rare to find their stuff out "in the wild" nowadays so I snagged it.

Krokus was a talented band but they had a severe identity crisis - on their early albums they sounded like AC/DC, then they sounded like Judas Priest for a while, and on this album they were definitely going for the slick, high energy Def Leppard pop-metal style. Maybe if they'd picked one style and stuck with it rather than chasing the trends, they might've had more staying power back then.

... Had you said you weren't particularly fond of live albums?  I love CDs, have a lot, and ADORE finding obscure stuff in CD stores!  I always check out the CDs at Walmart, book store, quick mart, flea market, garage sale... the BEST, tho', was when I found a BOX full of weird CDs, greatest hits, rock, jazz, soundtrax... musta been 50!!!  In a giant wagon with a giant FREE sign on them!!!
I'm always glad to listen.  RAVEN are too good at what they do for me to "hate on".   TeddyR
That first one was mebbe too much egg-gargling vocals ?  Wink Thumbdown  I liked the second one, the 1980 record, though.   Thumbup

Had you said you weren't particularly fond of live albums?

I don't hate live albums, but I don't go out of my way for'em either. When I want to collect a band's discography I tend to concentrate on studio albums first, then live releases later. In the case of a band that has lots of live albums (i.e. Iron Maiden, KISS, etc.) if I have one or two then I consider myself "good."

However, I've been a Raven fan boy since the early 1980s so I am honor bound to own any and all of their material (both studio and live) on CD. :D

I've actually owned Live at the Inferno and Wiped Out on vinyl since they were new releases back in the day, but I haven't owned a turntable in years and am not likely to buy another one anytime soon, hence the extremely belated upgrades.

Haha, that's true, the vocal stylin's *are* a bit of an acquired taste.
Years ago when I first saw them live, the bassist/vocalist was up onstage prior to their set testing out his amps and his wireless mic set up, and he cut loose with one of those loud squawks/screams ... a girl behind us covered her ears and said "Oh my GOD! Shut UP! That's SO ANNOYING!" ... my brother turned to her and said "Honey, if you can't deal with that, then you came to see the wroooong band." :D

My long term memory is still good.  It's short term I have problems with.
RCMerchant, Ron, whom I call BELA, introduced me to BUDGIE
This debut (like a lot of the crap I've been listening to) lacks great songwriting, but has the musicianship and there is a sincerity that is hard to miss.  BUDGIE still exist and probably still kick ass.  I like this.   Thumbup

Just watched the documentary "L7: Pretend We're Dead," about the 90s all-girl grunge/punk band, so I'm probably gonna be listening to them all weekend...
