Now I'm listening to That's the Truth by bluesman Bugs Henderson.  Right now he's doing a funked-up version of "Johnny B. Goode."

.JIMI HENDRIX-Fire (Gotta have Jimi!)
.THIN LIZZY-the Boys Are Back in Town (makes me feel 16 and cool!)

Great choice! After seeing you list it, I immediately fired it up in iTunes.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Give me your email address, it's my pleasure to send you "1969" one of the most important records that year, but, completely overlooked then.  I also love "Search And Destroy" off of RAW POWER.

Nice mix.

Oh yes, Jimi Hendryx, it's all mostly great, but I'm fond of Electric Ladyland and tracks like "Crosstown Traffic" and "Voodoo Child" plus later stuff like "Freedom"
I wonder if your interest in "Helter Skelter" isn't Vincent Bugliosi again?   TeddyR  I'm sure you know it's by Paul and it's a child's slide in the UK...certainly one of the greatest BEATLES rockers.

SWEET was great...they also did "Fox On The Run" which was as big a hit and on the heels of "Ballroom Blitz" in 1975.

One of the most interesting things about THE DEAD KENNEDYS was their album artwork...Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables being a case in point... "California Uber Alles" is off that one.

"The Boys Are Back in Town" makes you feel 16?  You were 16 then (1976)?

 Cool!My E-mail is fryechicken @ yahoo.com!
Electric LadyLand is also my favorite Jimi album...but I like most ALL of his songs!
As for Helter Skelter...I do have a strange fasination for the Manson case, but as far as the song HELTER SKELTER goes,it's just a GREAT rocker, along the lines of BACK in the USSR,which is another of my favorite songs by the Beatles. I really don't care for alot of their more psychadelic tunes...I like their very early work, pre '65,much more as a rule.
the Dead Kennedys always had interesting collage work done by Winston Smith! I usta have the poster from Freash Fruit hanging up on my wall! Still have the book that came in the Plastic Surgery Disasters LP lying around here somewheres....LOVE his work!
Actually,I was 14 in '76... (two  years later,  thanks to the magic of 8-tracks,we could jam on Thin Lizzy in our beat up cars while crusing the dirtroads of backwater Michigan...drinking beer and feeling like we would never die. Ahh. Now I'm amazed I didn't.

I wonder....whatever happened to SWEET? They just seemed to blink on...then they were gone....?

SWEET was another of those "Glam rock" bands aka "Glitter rock" that Punk owed not a small debt to.   Nice to see their old video!

As I'm typing I'm listening to Jupiter from John Coltrane's Interstellar Space.  This album is pretty crazy.

I went to the local record store earlier and on impule I bought a used copy of The Polite Force by Egg.  It's some slightly obscure early 70's prog stuff.  I listened to some of it on the way home and so far it's pretty decent I s'pose.  The cover is cool:

I'm rocking out to the new White Stripes album, Icky Thump...Goofy name, great album.  It's a return to form for Jack and Meg.  Get Behind Me Satan kinda sucked because they experimented with a bunch of instruments.  Icky Thump is all guitar and drums!  FAN-tastic.

I'm also listening to the Ad-Rock (from the Beastie Boys) produced new Bad Brains album Build A Nation.  There's only a couple of reggae songs on it.  The rest is crunchy, thrashy punk!  I love it when bands get back to what made them famous in the first place.  I'm hoping the Smashing Pumpkins can do the same thing when their new album come out!
