I met Disturbed when they did an in-store at my record store.  They were signing autographs and people were lined up around the block.  Before we opened the doors, their manager stepped forward to the staff and said, "If anyone would like anything signed, now would be the best time to do it."

All five of us stood there, awkwardly, staring at the band that was staring at us as if they were in total disbelief that no one wanted them to sign anything.  Then they opened the doors and the place was out of control and the band's self-esteem was restored.

The band was nice, but their singer was a total cock smoker.  Hanging in the store is a photo of the staff with the band.  I'm standing next to the singer making a face that says "I'm going to bite your head" at their singer.  I managed to sneak it in before the photographer snapped it.

Her great album Ode To Billie Joe is not available, but collections are, and most tracks off of Ode To Billie Joe are available (but not all...!!)  So, I'm listening to Chickasaw County child: The Artistry of BOBBIE GENTRY

Bobby Gentry is one of those artists that remind me of my childhood years in Michigan. We lived on a dead end road in the boonies. Mary Jo, my step mother, used to listen to her,Lorreta Lynn,George Jones...all that type of stuff. Got sick of it as a kid...now it's a very nostalgic and bittersweet.
Oh...yeah-I actually saw Lynn Anderson at the Van Buern County Fair in about 1972! I was all of ten!

Did LYNN ANDERSON sing "I Never Promised You A Rose Garden...?"  I can relate on getting sick of stuff; I didn't like BOBBIE GENTRY when I first heard her, but long ago had her album and really grew to love it.  When I was in a wistful mood, there was nothing better... what I then found syrupy arrangements now just add to the sentimental and nostalgic sound, and she wrote some wonderful songs!!

I'm now listening to my End of Summer mix: Soundtrack 2001, Fats Waller, Bix Beiderbecke, Jefferson Airplane, sound effects, Les Paul, Patsy Cline, Sarah Vaughan, Ravel as played by Vlado Perlemuter...

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
