Tangerine Dream's soundtrack to Near Dark.   It seems really counterintuitive that synth instrumentals would accompany this movie; you'd expect something more like Ry Cooder.

Best of Bowie by David Bowie.  20 classic David Bowie songs, including "Blue Jean", "Golden Years", "Suffragette City" and "The Jean Genie."

Happy Gilmore could use some dialogue, or, read the posts... I repeat: "HappyGilmore, anyone who doesn't know THE MONKEES made many great records, don't know squat 'bout records."

I wouldn't expect Ry Cooder if TANGERINE DREAM were doing the score... (it was 1987 afterall)  Wink  But RY COODER does seem a good fit..., I'd nearly forgotten about this picture which was better than might have been expected (I'm sure it flopped...)  The very best movies usually do...  Thumbup

Listened to BECK's Guero in the car today,

Now, I'm listening to my end-of-Summer mix, with most of this one mixed in, again...  Twirling

Union Avenue, a very country-tinged rockabilly band.  (The lead singer's does his best Johnny Cash soundalike all through the disc.) Finger-pickin' versions of "Bad Moon Rising," "Hoochie Coochie Man," "I Shot the Sheriff," and "Sympathy for the Devil" (!) along with some less-surprising songs.

I think they're much better than people sometimes give them credit for.  Granted they might not compare to other groups from the time, like The Stooges or The Beatles, but they had a place in the music scene.

The Best of Creedence Clearwater Revisited.  Thought this concert was fantastic.  And the CD only cost $6.99 Canadian.

I own the soundtrack to 2001 as well. Great stuff.
