Mainly in tribute as the Lead singer died a few hours ago ;_; Absolutely stunning band and this album in particular is easily up there for me...

The Almighty.

Taking another trip back to my teenage years. The first gig I went to see was Motorhead on the tour to promote '1915'. The Almighty were the support act and riding high with their album 'Soul Destruction'. They were the first (proper) band I saw live and they blew me away, opening with Free & Easy and then crusing into Wild & Wonderful and Destruction... I can still remember every moment 27 years later. Wow. We thought they were going to be the next Maiden or Metallica. And then along came Nirvana and made music all depressing and miserable for a generation.

The lead singer Ricky Warwick got married to a VJ who used to present MTV's head bangers ball called Vanessa. I wonder if he ever found out about me getting a snog off her one night while he was on stage? I would see them many times over the next couple of years, but they kept changing their style to try and fit in with current styles and I went off them, but for there first three albums they were sitting on top of the UK Heavy Rock tree rivalled only by The Wildhearts.

I think there's the opinion that Scary Monsters is DAVID BOWIE's last great album.  I had it on vinyl but haven't really listened to it (other than the three obvious ones) in a long time.  I had BOWIE's albums after that for a few years, do think Let's Dance is probably underrated (maybe now overrated other that the 3 obvious ones I haven't heard it in decades) BUT I think if the consensus is that BOWIE had a last great album it might BE Scary Monsters (and I've not listened at all to the last one Black Star that many think IS great)  I'm in a BOWIE phase.

I like ULTRAVOX, that "tune" could get stuck in one's head but it's meh, and I love the song "Common People" because of this, WILLIAM SHATNER and JOE JACKSON produced by BEN FOLDS (a great album):

I don't care for PULP particularly, but I'm gonna go with you love that song...   Question
