The Pixies, "Surfer Rosa"

Using Amazon Prime to explore recommended albums I missed when I was younger. I now understand why I missed most of them. This is fine but I actually prefer Frank Black solo.

Ain't it always the way?  Highly regarded albums often slip over time, and don't seem impressive or prescient anymore.

VLADO PERLEMUTER, however, holds up wonderfully, as does RAVEL.

Some records get better with age.  I really like all of THE STONES '70s albums, but did not when they were new.  Of course, I always loved classic STONES.

THE ROLLING STONES Emotional Rescue

Is this stuff old enough to be "classic" now?  ROLLING STONES Black And Blue

This one would have to be cited as the last "classic" STONES album and my own favorite... 1972:
THE ROLLING STONES Exile On Main Street

I actually own a HENRI RENE album (that track is not on it). And I love this vintage Playboy-style album cover:

But I'm listening to more of that stuff I was supposed to love in highs school college, but didn't...

Also: one I did discover and listen to in college...

I have a recording of Igor Stravinsky- Le Sacre Du Printemps-The Firebird but it's LEONARD BERNSTEIN conducting Israel Philarmonic...  I'll be listening to that shortly...

My high school friends were all into punk. I liked them, but couldn't stand their music, for the most part. Sure I heard this one before. Still don't get it. I'm not angry enough, I guess.  Question

In 1984 - my final year of high school - a friend of mine brought a cassette of The Sex Pistols to class and he played the song about the Good Ship Venus  Buggedout at full volume. Result? A trip to see the headmaster.  TeddyR

I do like that one though, a lot! Punk only works for me when combined with humor.

Now, to clear my mind, more Stravinsky:

I liked X better than the other "punk" bands. This one reminds me more of the Clash; sort-of a punk sensibility, but exploring melody and respecting other styles. Hell, they even do a Leadbelly cover, gotta respect that.
