I don't mind sequels. They can be fun. I just don't like the idea of remakes. Take King Kong for example. A modern sequel where they return to Kong Island or something along those lines has some definite possibilities, and it could be very entertaining and original, but remaking an already great film is just lame, and I refuse to see it. If you love a film as much as Peter Jackson claims to love Kong, why would you want to remake it? Seems to me you'd be more likely to want to finance a rerelease of the original than to tamper with it. Jackson could have done that and then made a sequel afterwards. Oh but wait a minute, you actually need imagination to do that!
Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with
King Kong either (and this is from someone who actually watched it), aside from the action sequences (the Kong Vs. Z-Rex Twins was definitely the highlight of the show though). You could probably catch those on YouTube anyway, so why bother with the rest of it?
