Dennis said what I was going to say.

It's hard to compare the two companies as they seem to be interested in different things.  Full Moon will try to make a serious horror film, but Troma couldn't care less.  Troma is more into the schlock area while Full Moon is into low budget horror films.  I have enjoyed films from both companies but my vote will go to Troma just because of how over the top Lloyd Kaufmann is.

it seems that Full Moon TRIES to make good movies and (quite often) fails. Troma just goes all out in an attempt to make stupid and idiotic sh*t all the time.

That pretty well sums it up for me.  Although some (a lot) of Full Moon stuff is just unwatchably bad, a pretty good quantity of their movies basically define what "so bad it's good" is all about for me.  Take a ridiculous premise, a low budget, throw in some cheese and microwave until bubbly.  Troma I just can't stand.  It's not bad enough that their movies are beyond description, but then the audio and video quality of their DVD's can only accurately be described using four-letter words.  And Lloyd Kaufman has that intro before each movie.

Points to Troma for releasing a truckload of obscure cult flicks that would otherwise never make it to the light of day, but everything out of Full Moon was actually made by Charles Band and Full Moon (under one banner or another), so their catalog is actually theirs. Additionally, the talents and characters that came out of Full Moon beat Troma hands down. Sure, Toxie and Sgt. Kabukiman are great, but compared to Jack Deth, Dollman, the Demonic Toys, the Puppets, Radu, etcetera? Full Moon for me.

Sadly I've grown to hate Charles Ban greatly over the years as the quality has slipped to the point that even I won't touch their new releases unless I'm desperate for a cinemasochist fix. Evil Bong was abysmal and Puppet Master Vs. Demonic Toys shamed a great concept that was watered down like the Pharaoh chasing Moses after the years of delays. As far as Full Moon going bankrupt, it's gone "under" several times since it's rise and fall as each time Band had to go into hiding when all the investors he owed big time to started knocking on his door looking for their return. My ex-boss was good friends with the guy for a long time and after spending three years handling old horror comics, I discovered where exactly all of Mr. Band's "original ideas" came from. When I get around to reviewing Head of the Family, I intend to post scans of the original full story he was so blatantly "inspired by"...

The answer to the ultimate question? Well thats easy! 42!

This is only about the ultimate answer, today at work the sales manager was looking over some report or other and said out loud "now we must ask the question", of course I responded with "the answer is 42".  He asked me what that meant, I explained about the Hitchhiker's Guide, Don't panic, Ultimate question etc. He walked away shaking his head.

Everyone here seems to be avoiding the original introduction, wherein the young man reveals himself as a neophyte, and asks a simple comaprison question --
I am shocked (SHOCKED!) that nobody got the basic premise & simply gave him advice as to the standard badmoviedom that we all enjoy --
I mean, the original question was simply a dodge/a mcguffin -- his is the simple, general question as to what Bad Movies to generally enjoy --
(Focus on Ed Wood . . . All else will follow . . .)
peter who?/denny what?
