JESSE JAMES (1939) - This is a true Western Classic starring Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda, and Randolf Scott. It has a great look and shot in Technicolor. The night train scene is great cinamatography. Jesse James is portrayed more like a hero in this film even though he has become an outlaw. Not sure how accurate the story is here and maybe I should read a real biography about the this Western legend. In the film you will clearly see were Val Kilmer gets his portrayal of Doc Holiday in TOMBSTONE (1993) which is just like Henry Fonda's portrayal of Frank James. Also you will see the Northfield bank robbery almost exactly like in THE LONG RIDERS (1980) with the whitish over coats and attempted escape that eventually takes them through the store window. Both have this scene and both are well done. The only difference is the slow motion isn't in JESSE JAMES (1939). Either way both films are great. Been wanting to see this one for a while now and found it "On Demand" cable free movies.

Thumbup Thumbup (8 out of 10 Stars) Will be watching the sequel THE RETURN OF FRANK JAMES (1940) starring Henry Fonda soon. It's also "On Demand" cable.

I've seen it, and I enjoyed it, but don't expect this film to give you an accurate portrayal of Jesse James' life. Actually, of all the films made about Jesse James, I don't know if there is one that accurately portrays Jesse James, as he was in his real life.

This one was in Technicolor BoyScoutKevin. Randolf Scott was just to tall next to Tyrone Power who played Jesse James. Henry Fonda was the best actor in this film he played Frank James. All in all a very good film.
