i'm skeptical of this.  He is suppose to have killed it himself, but that would entail dragging the body back by himself.  NO way that kid could drag that body.

On there self promotion-buy-our-pictures-and-t-shirts website they show them getting the hog with a tractor and bucket.

As for the pistol ... I'm not sure a kid could shoot a .50 cal repeatedly and hit anything. A 50 cal pistol has some serious kick to it.

Another site I visit has some speculation about whether this is real or not too, based on the size of the gun.  A few of the gun owners there say that a .50 bullet should have left huge exit wounds on the hog, and if you look at the pics there don't seem to be any.

Funny, i just got this email forward at work today and i love to debunk these emails

read this
http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/hogzilla.asp

Only two people saw the hog huh? Yeah, highly believable. If someone really did catch something that big you can bet your sweet ass they would have called the local news and done everything to make a buck and get famous instead of taking a snapshot

it was too big to fit in the freezer so he buries the head in an undisclosed location seperate from the body? Yeah right. If the entire hog doesn't fit in your deep freezer you pass it along to friends and family after it's butchered

i call BS on this story

Raffine, my aunt has managed to live in Montgomery for about twenty years. But now that she's getting divorced, who knows if that will last.

I have friends from my Montgomery days that lived there for almost twenty-five years before finally moving  on to Wetumpka.
For film fans: Wetumpka is where Tim Burton shot much of BIG FISH (which fits in nicely with the BIG PIG theme of this thread).

So does Jack Hannah, on many of the points mentioned above.

There is plans of one, really from the first Hogzilla in Ga. so this one is "Son of Hogzilla" or "Hogzilla II" or the "Return of Hogzilla" or "Hogzilla - Undead" oh you get the idea.

So much for all the excitement:

http://www.ajc.com/news/content/news/stories/2007/06/01/0601monsterpig.html

It was a farm pig, and from the article sounds like a fairly tame one too.  I'm seriously p**sed that someone  went out to "hunt" a domestic pig.    Hatred

R.I.P. FRED

There once was a piggy named Fred.
Who was said to be tame and well fed.
But then a young Alabamian
Fired his pistol (which went "BLAM!") and then
Poor old tame Fred was real dead.

They talked to the taxidermist that was contracted to stuff the head shoulders on NPR. He said the pig's neck was 54 inches around and the shoulders were 74.

They plan on touring the head around at hunting shows or some such thing.

Yeah I'd heard while I was away again it was a canned hunt, kinda drains the excitement out of it, record critter or not.

BTW, Raffine, I love that fish image you posted, where did you find it? Does it have a name?

So they took somebody's pet, put it in a fenced-in enclosure, and let the 11 year old shoot at it with a .50 cal pistol until he eventually killed it?

Hmmm.  Not exactly the kind of stuff my family does for entertainment.
