Sam Kieth's "Ojo" now a movie!?

Sam Kieth's comic miniseries Ojo, now available as a trade paper, is apparently becoming a movie.  I don't see any IMDb listing yet, but the film is apparently wrapped and in post-production.  You can see the trailer here:  http://www.brianhammfilms.com/OJO-TRailer.mov  WTF?!?!    Haha.  While I positively adored the comic, I can't decide if I am excited or horrified about the movie.

Does anybody else have any information?  Or for that matter, any information on the status of the rest of the Magic Box comic books?

If Sam Keith's name is attached to a project I'm already interested, but the all of the links from that website that promise to lead me to screen caps of this Ojo project lead nowhere. I tried to check out Mr. Keith's webpage, only to discover it seems the site was never finished and has gone untouched since 2004?! Yikes. What is/was Ojo, Grunge? I seem to have heard the name before but am completely lost on any details.

I am not entirely sure, but I believe the site was started by a fan and with Keith's blessing it became his home page.  Then something happened and work was abandoned.  By misspelling his name on a Google search, I came across a foreign mirror that was slightly more up-to-date, though still about a year out.

What is/was Ojo, Grunge?

Sam Keith is working on 8 (I think) interconnected miniseries, each briefly involving a magic trout and a picture projector.  Very briefly.  Haha.  Ojo is about a little girl with no real friends or family.  She finds an injured baby monster and takes it away from its mother to nurse it back to health.  Like a lot of Keith's work, it deals heavily with the formative events of childhood and the subsequent affect on our adult perception of Self.  The story itself reminds me a lot of one of my favorite bad movies, The Pit.  All in all I enjoyed it thoroughly.  Along with Zero Girl, this is probably my favorite work of his.  I've been waiting over 2 years for him to finish the second miniseries.  Lazy bastard.  Haha.  There are plot summaries for the yet-to-be-written works in the back of the Ojo trade paper.

I keep forgetting to whom I'm talking!

I adore Sam Keith, but I have never been a strong follower of comics.  It's not that I don't like them, I just don't have enough time in the day to seek them out, what with my rabid obsession of film, music, and literature.  But I caught the MTV show and decided to take a look at The Maxx comics.  I was so intrigued by the philosophical elements of his story that I kept reading even as the series became quite sloppy and contrived.  A friend of mine passed along a copy of Zero Girl and I was hooked.  I later discovered the wonders of Sandman, since he helped kick that off.  Now I mostly read Vertigo series that get republished as trade papers.  Things like Transmetropolitan and Preacher.  My ex keeps up to date with Keith's work, and she was the one that turned me on to the Magic Trout stuff.

The story arches for the other Magic Trout minis seem really intriguing.  I wish he was better with deadlines.  Haha.  I'm keeping my eyes open for the film release of Ojo, which seems like it will be a nightmare to locate.  I'll let you know if I get a hold of it.

I was a fan of the Maxx series, at least the first few issues.  I didn't finish it, if I remember right the newsstand market for comics dropped out sometime during the middle of that series.  Since I lived in a town with no comic shop, well... I will say that the MTV series has been one of the best comics to animation conversions I've ever seen.  American, at least.  (Especially after the godawfulness of The Head.)

I've always found the promise of Sam Keith to outweigh the actual reality.  Which is a shame, because I find his artwork very appealing, and I admire his commitment to portraying good female characters.  (It's hard enough finding comics written by actual women.)

I think Sam Keith is very disserved by the monthly format.  I read Four Women, but the wait between issues was one hell of a hindrance.  That is to say, I didn't finish Ojo either.

I'm sure I thought I had a point here.  Oh well.
