Malibu Beach (1978)

Filmed in the same general area and right after "The VAn"  this sunny beach party of a movie is alot like "The Van"!  Duggan from the "The Van" is even in it.  It has even less of a plot but it doesn't matter.  You just couldn't make a funner more laid back beach movie.  it reminds me of "Dazed and COnfused" more than the 80's sex comedies or Frankie and Annete movies because it is so mellow and loose, but not hippy ish.  soundtrack is obscure cheeseball rock and disco.  Some criticize the lack of different body types, all the girls are skinny and of more or less average build, and that point is well taken.  rent

Ive got one of those 'Grindhouse' DVDs and there's a trailer for 'The Van' on it. looks pretty shoddy, in a good way. might have to check it out, and Malibu Beach


FTR one of the movies on that Grindhouse DVD is 'The Beach Girls', which would probably fit into this category I'm guessing. (i.e. nothing happens, teens romping about etc...)

"The Beach Girls"  has Debra Blee.  She is soooooo freakin' cute.  I've love to go back in time and spend days giving her a tongue bath.
