But will the film sustain itself for feature length, or did they include all the good moments in the preview?

I love NES games.  They are so difficult, but with a little patience (and a lot of time) you can learn to predict the movements of every single character.  My favorite has always been Monster In My Pocket.  All things considered, the final confrontation is pretty easy.
