Lasseter of Pixar has taken over Disney, and his first act is killing those wretched direct-to-video animated sequels.

PRAISE JOHN LASSETER!  It's good to know that he's not in it for the money, 'cause those straight to video monstrosities makes tons of it.

Now he just needs to do away with the "Disney Vault" B.S.

Does this mean I will never have to sit through sequels that should never have been made?

I refuse to buy the crappy movies like "Jungle Book II" and "Cinderella whatever they're up to now", I think this is a great move towards restoring the quality that Disney used to have.

You know, just the other day I was complaining about how Disney was trying to squeeze every last penny out of those old franchises...Thank God for John Lasseter. Not only did he bring Miyazaki to the masses (the American masses, anyway) but he's helping to save the last shreds of dignity Disney has left.

It's not like children are sophisticated enough to know the difference.  I wonder how he plans to supplement Disney's income?  If I was him, I'd have the theme parks secede from the union and declare themselves sovereign nations.  Then I'd tear down tea-cup rides, install gambling halls in their place, and turn the mascots into heroin pushers.  That'll begin to take care of the revenue from the sing-along tapes...  But yeah, Lasseter needs to think of something or his tenure will be short-lived.  The film industry isn't known for its taste, after all.

Now that you mention it, what are they up to on that, like ten or something?

What's sad is the FIRST movie was actually a good film...

I checked IMDB and it looks like they're up to 12 movies total.

I wish that the deleted footage from the first film was still in existence.  A lot of stuff was cut out that was deemed too intense and frightening in order to get a G rating.  I always wondered why the movie was so short.

Same deal with All Dogs Go to Heaven.  I think they ended up having to make it look like the guns were shooting lasers and they removed bullet holes, and there was more to the sequence in hell.

The first movie in the series really was pretty good, but they started to slide downhill rapidly.  However, I would buy the last sequel in the series if they would use my script:

In a recent thread, I said that Star Trek was the "porn" of mainstrem movie, having 11 movie to its credit.  I take that back; Land Before Time is the "porn" of mainstream movie.  That "cash" cow has been bone dry since '2', and it needs to be put out of its misery.

My vote would go for the Witchcraft movies.  From the third one on, they've been carbon copies of part two.  And gratuitous softcore nudity aside, none of them were worth watching.  Currently, this series includes:
Witchcraft
Witchcraft II: The Temptress
Witchcraft III: The Kiss of Death
Witchcraft IV: The Virgin Heart
Witchcraft V: Dance with the Devil
Witchcraft VI what, no subtitle?
Witchcraft VII: Judgment Hour
Witchcraft VIII: Salem's Ghost
Witchcraft IX: Bitter Flesh
Witchcraft X: Mistress of the Craft
Witchcraft XI: Sisters in Blood
Witchcraft XII: In the Lair of the Serpent
Witchcraft XIII: Blood of the Chosen
