any ron paul fans here?  I'm a long time reader of www.lewrockwell.com which posts some of his columns and have been learning about libertarianism for the last couple of years, so his run was well timed for me.

I understand his youtube channel is hugely popular and his campaign is running largely on internet power.

Anti war, anti-state, pro market.  Cheers

Ron Paul is the best candidate out there.  Most of the others are bought and paid for and it shows since they only debate a limited set of issues.  No one but him talks about the dimishing rights in the US.  He is also the only candidate that will actually remove the troops from Iraq.  The others that promise it are just lying.  The democrats basically promised to end the war during the mid-terms and have done nothing to achieve that end.  We shouldn't be fooled again, trust in Ron Paul.

If he doesn't get the nomination, which he most likely will not, I'm going to write his name in on the ballot.

I think this election is going to have the lowest turnout ever.  I don't even watch the pundit shows any more.  I don't care about mitt romney's mormonism or 10 new books about hillary clinton.

the Beltway is so disconnected.  it's like the green zone for America.  just blowing our money on all types of bulls**t while the country falls apart

Looks like not many people know who he is here, but props to Lester(and karma) for trying to start discussion on politics.

The democrats have been trying to do what they promised, but despite winning a majority of seats they still don't have enough power to overturn a veto from Admiral Braindead thanks to the pro-war Repubs still in office. I don't think the Dems are to blame here, it's the people in the states who voted to keep their Republican reps in office that continue to foil the Dems that deserve the ridicule.

tomb-  what does that say about our system?  These guys are all treading water.  Meanwhile,  tens of millions of Americans who didn't vote for Bush, are and were against the war (and / or his immigration policies)  have to pay for it and read about it every day.

Our federal budget is 3 trillion dollars.  and it's all going to junk.  subsidizing things that should have been put out to pasture,  aid to countries that hate us.  weapons, beaurocracy.

and they still don't have enough money to pay for all of it so they borrow more money and turn the printing presses on and basically make counterfeit money, backed by nothing but themselves.  You used to be able to exchange a dollar for it's weight in gold.

It's time to dismantle the apparatus.  the federal government is too big.   I really believe that' the problem.

cut spending.  alot, if not completely.  the rest will fall into place

I hadn't heard much of Ron Paul until yesterday when I caught part of an interview with him on a technology focused show.  I like the idea that the man is pro-internet and disagrees with taxation of the internet and such.  That's a big selling point for me.

I also like the fact that he seems to be a constitutionalist, in that he votes against any bill he believes goes against the constitution.  If this means more leeway as far as free speech, then I'm all for it.

The only downside that I see is that the man is flying the Republican flag.  I know he says he goes against most Republican ideas, but we've heard this all before.  Candidate claims to be middle of the road and we end up having an extremely right wing administration.  I don't trust it, and will have to see further what Paul believes in.

Even if I do end up feeling like he'd be a good candidate, he'll probably not win the election since he's such an outside shot.  I have a feeling that McCain or Brownback will win the Repub ticket.

skaboi-  small government is good for everyone, regardless of their political affiliation.  that's the point.  less wars, less socialist stuff for republicans to run against.  less tax burden.

Paul is a republican in part because his original party, the libertarian party, can't compete in the two party system.  But he is also pro life and pre border / anti illegal immigration which puts him well into GOP land.

I'm pro choice, but roe v wade isn't constitutional, the states are supposed to decide that stuff.

bottom line:  there are two big issues today iran and illegal immigration and he's the only candidate who's on the right side of both.
