I've also steered away from eating fast food pretty much and I eat at Subway a lot or I'll get  a salad at Wendy's instead of a burger.

You have to watch what you get at subway.  Not everything there is healthy even though it is advertised as such and most people believe it to be that way.  Most of the meat choices contain alot of fat.  You need to pick the lean meats like turkey, ham or chicken.  Moreover to keep it healthy you have to decline mayo and cheese as these will also add to the fat and calories of the sub.

I have just been put on a long overdue diet. It was getting to the point where I was eating out for lunch five times a week, and not getting nearly enough exercise. Ive been trying to eat healthy; for a while, I've been getting salads from a salad bar near work and have stopped putting anything meat or bread related on them (no crutons, pepperoni, etc), though there's actually plenty of vegetable items I like to make up for it (black olives, green peppers, artichokes, etc.). I had been addicted to green tea for a long time now (especially the arizona kind, but I stopped drinking them after I noticed the amount of sugar they contain). My problem is that, if I go hungry for too long, I start feeling weak and get a major headache. I recently discovered cottage cheese; it might sound gross, but its actually really good, and a little of it is very filling. I can buy a small package of the half cc and half fruit for like a dollar and have that for lunch, and it will keep me going for the rest of the day.

Fausto, I don't know if you like yogurt or not, but one of the tricks I've learned for dieting is to eat yogurt with half a cup of Grape Nuts or some other granola cereal mixed in for breakfast every day.  It's filling, and it keeps you going until lunch without wanting to load up on the bad stuff.  And a little meat on a salad isn't bad, if you can get chicken or turkey on there.

I think when I'll get older the whole eating healthy thing will apply more, since I'm fairly lean, and don't need to worry so much about putting on weight [in fact just the opposite can do the trick]  BUT I do tend to eat reasonably healthy anyways, and I don't mean calorie counting or 'can I have the salad' but more just common sense in what I eat.  The guys at work get annoyed at me because I'm always bringing pizzas/burgers/kebab type back for lunch, but I do offset this with the occasional nice 'healthy' meal.

I'd say it helps having a vegetarian girlfriend, but I've been going out recently to a lot of nice vegetarian restaurants every time I feel I need something 'cleansing'.  We have quite a few really nice places around here which do great vegetarian food that just makes you feel good after eating it.  Lentils, roast vegies, tofu and that type of thing are actually quite tasty when cooked right.

With what I do, working on houses and having a farm I sweat out about 3 gallons a day so I eat anything that doesn't eat me first.

Thanks, I'll try that out.

I just had slow churned strawberry/chocolate/vanilla swirl frozen yogurt. It's just as tasty as ice cream.

I have a very restricted diet due to some health problems.  Sometimes I just say the funk with it and eat a bacon cheeseburger (with a Benadryl chaser).
