HELP! WE ARE STUCK IN A GOOD MOVIE!!!

« Reply #1 on: July 01, 2007, 10:00:07 PM »

I loved watching the Transformers.  I lived for them.  I had a few of the characters and still have them at my parents house.  After watching the vid clip here, I realized how violent the new movie is.  I will love to see the movie, but wow I never remember the cartoon being that violent.

My two cents.

Just in case anyone goes to my site and finds that my review is suspiciously missing, just give me another day or so. I've had a rather umm... eventful week and didn't find the time to give "Transformers: The Movie" the lovin' it deserves. The review is currently being written and the Vault will be updated as soon as humanly possible! In the meantime, enjoy Andrew's awesome review for the film!  TeddyR

"Too bad for Megatron that Optimus had "kick butt today" marked on his calendar."  Yup.  That is a great quote.

Great review guys.  I've been on my own Transformers celebration the last couple of days.  I was a bit too young for the original series, but the movie remains one of my favourites and the soundtrack has quite appropriately ruined any chance of me having good taste in music [curses to you Stan BUSH!!!] This is especially since it's my favourite movie soundtrack ever.

Even if it was all a marketing ploy to sell new toys, I do admire a movie which has the balls to kill off the main characters in the first half hour.  Tell me you didn't shed a slight tear when that Vince Di Cola track slowly fades in and the blips start flat-lining.

The way I see it, girls had Bambi, boys had Optimus...

Either way, I just bought the Special Edition of the original Movie, and the entire Gen 1 series on dvd so I'm all set for robot-action this next month, and am seeing the new one tonight.  Fun all around!  Like I said, I never really watched the old series as much as I could have, so it's settling in quite nicely.

Still, plot points and structure are atrocious in the movie, with scenes just jumping all over the place with the plot having little coherence but at least it sounded pretty and even had someone swear [oh dear my ears!]

So yeah, great review fellas.  I only stifled the urge to get all fanboy and debate some of your points a few times so it must have done the trick.

Argh! I so want to read these reviews but I'm doing a quickie for it on Wednesday and... well... as much shame as I'm sure this will heap upon me: I've never watched it... But I've seen GI Joe: the Movie twenty or so times, so that's gotta count for something, right?  Wink

Anyway, I'll check out both of your reviews once I've posted my review. Thanks guys!

There were two great theater experiences in the mid-80's that cemented my love for film: House and Transformers: The Movie.  I had a blast watching both films, even though I was only about 5 or 6.  They were the first two films I saw in theaters that I was actually able to sit still and not fall asleep (like I did during Gremlins, sadly).

I also remember this film giving away a huge spoiler in the commercial, or what would have been a huge spoiler.

My copy of "Transformers:  The Movie" is the Special Collector's Edition by Kid Rhino that came out in 2000.  It is pretty good in terms of quality and what I used when I did the review.  From what I have heard, the 20th Anniversary Edition is much better (though I have never had the chance to compare the two).

The 20th Anniversary release is fully color-corrected Andrew, and packed with extras (I'm still trying to find those pesky Easter eggs that are promised on the back of the case). It's worth picking up if you're into upgrading your DVD collection like I am. Hmm... maybe that's why I'm so poor all the time........  Question  BounceGiggle

Thanks Ash! And thank you for joining the B-Movie Film Vault Forums. It's pretty quiet over there, but maybe you can stir things up a bit.  Wink

I bought that too, I loved that movie is was made of win and awesome.  I have the version that came out 7 years ago and bought it about 4 years ago, but I bought this because of the extra that it has.
