I just saw this over the weekend and liked it.  But I worry.  It's based on a Stephen King story, you know, and with the exception of The Shining, which I've personally enjoyed less and less over the years, and Night Flier which is oddly likeable, most of the movies based on his stuff stinketh royally.

I thought it was good but really uneven, with some of the best AND worst acting I've ever seen out of John Cusack.  What does anyone else think?

I'm curious, did you watch the theatrical version or the new, unedited version?  I ask because I'm told the unedited version has a DIFFERENT ending, and the original ending is NOT available on that disc which I think is REALLY flipping stupid.  They managed to put both versions on the movie Identity (another film with John Cusack, btw) so why not this one?

"The Mist" opens in U.S. theaters on November 21, 2007. It's probably a film I'll go see, if only because it is one of my favorite Stephen King stories, if not my favorite Stephen King story. One hesitation, the trailer, it left me suitably unimpressed.

I have faith in The Mist since Frank Darabont is behind it.  He directed The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, both of which I really like.  But I never read the source material for either of them so I can't say how faithful they are.

Oh yeah, I liked 1408.  I wish the DVD was a bit cheaper, though.

I find The Shining overrated. It has a good beginning and a great end but the middle meanders. I like Sleepwalkers. It is not a classic but it has great camp value.
