As much as I want to enjoy anything that involves former members of "The State", I can usually take or leave the "Reno 911" tv series. I finally watched the DVD this weekend though and I think the creators definitely put in some of their best effort in making the movie! It was funny, disturbing, and I was actually sorry to see it end! Though I've yet to sit down and check 'em out, I look forward to the DVD's inclusion of commentary tracks by the actors while in character. I'd like to see more movies in the future actually attempt this.

If you like the series or you just enjoy witty gross out humor, give it a rental. I may actually make this one a purchase!  Thumbup

It had the opposite effect for me. I usually like the show, but the movie seemed forced. There were a few scenes that were funny, but overall it was crap IMO. Mostly that stems from so much of it being so unbelievable. The whole part with knuckle-head being allowed NEAR an attack helicopter, , let alone able to get IN it, , not to mention that the thing was fully armed, , just seemed like they were trying to say "Look, just admit you're stupid enough to believe this and start laughing".
It felt more like a bunch of jokes and scenes put together than an actual movie with a purpose and flow. . Just my opinion though. .

Although I wouldn't call it "crap", I agree with you.  I rather like the series but the film fell a bit flat for me.  It did seem pretty forced.  Aside from The Rock's cameo, and quick and bloody demise along with that great 5 minute tracking shot at the hotel; the rest just didn't work for me.  The most painful part of the film for me was Paul Rudd's painful Scarface impression that was used over and over throughout the film.  I would have hoped that Lennon and the rest of the crew would have found a better story in Miami than a Scarface rip-off.  Oh well.

I have to say "Better luck next time.".  I really like Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant but aside from "Let's Go To Prison!", I have yet to see a good film written by them.

Man, I miss The State.

(Shhhhhhh! I'm trying to get people to buy the movie so I can get a free t-shirt from Comedy Central!)

Seriously though, between yourselves and my fiancee, it looks like I'm in the minority so far. She says she prefers the show too, so maybe I suggest people who see potential in the series should give it a try, but not necessarily more-than-casual fans of the show? Meh, I still enjoyed it.
