Curiosity, it's killed the cat and parted fools from their money.  I let curiosity get the better of me about Alpha Video's Grindhouse Double Shock Show DVDs.  If the DVD I purchased is any example they're not bad, but they aren't great either.  I am curious, assuming anyone has picked up any of the other DVDs in this series, if the quality gets any better?

The DVD I picked up was Alpha Video's "Grindhouse Double Shock Show" featuring The Day Time Ended and The Doomsday Machine.  You can find my review, which is of the DVD not the movies, complete with sample screen caps at Mise-en-scene Crypt.  The cover art, as scene in the screen cap of the DVD menu, is nice. .

However the video quality, overall, leaves much to be desired.  My full review can be found here.  To summarize: A disappointing release of two fun looking b-movies.

Are you going to review the movies themselves?

I've hit bugs on DVDs I bought once or twice, it taught me to avoid those companies, and I have no way of knowing if they continue to bug their prints or not.

Raffine,

Believe it or not Goodtimes actually managed to put out a few DVDs before they went belly up.  I even own a couple.   Smile

Are you going to review the movies themselves?

Yes, at least I've started a review for The Doomsday Machine.  However if all you want is info on screen bugs I cover that in my review of the DVD and include screen caps from both titles with screen bugs.

Before I write-up my review of the movie I'd like to see if I can get my hands on one of the Elvira DVDs with this title on it.  After glancing at some reviews online with screen caps I've some questions that need answering.   But to do so I need to do a mark-1 eyeball comparison for video telltales before I say or suggest anything more.

I would also like to hear from anyone who may have purchase the RetroFlicks version, or ANY other version of The Doomsday Machine.  I've a few questions so feel free to PM me or respond here, which ever you feel more comfortable doing.

Thanks in advance.
