So I just started watching Rome Season 2 on DVD.  I am still PO'd about them cancelling the series.  The show is fascinating and well acted.  As mentioned in another thread about Deadwood, they seem to 86 these shows before they even get started and keep shows like Sopranos and Sex In The City longer than they have to.

I would have loved them to continue the Rome series into the racy Casers like Caligula and Nero.  Of course they had to disappoint me. Curse you HBO.

I'm too cheap to spring for HBO, but I caught one episode of "Rome" over at a friend's house and watched the entire first season on video . . . can't wait for the second, but I am upset it is the last.  Of course, it would be hard to cover the entire 45-year reign of Augustus (Octavian) in a single series.  It would run longer than MASH!  Maybe they'll do a follow up during the reign of the later, more tumultuous Caesars . . . . ROME A D or something like that!

Yeah, HBO really grated my cheese when they cancelled Rome and Carnivale after only two seasons each. I hope Showtime doesn't do the same thing after the second season of The Tudors.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

I was mad too when I heard about Rome's cancellation.  But, now that I think about, I'm glad it ended like this, on a high note.  They stopped it before the quality suffered, like it did with the Sopranos.  I'd rather have two quality seasons, than two good seasons followed by three more of inferior content.

Besides, this show, like Deadwood, was very cerebral, with actors who talked like Shakespeareans.  It wasn't really made for the regular folk, of any country really, and I didn't expect it to last long anyway.

Rome was a great seires.

Maybe another channel will pick it up like The History Channel or something. I know that they sometimes produce and show actual shows like this.

I don't think the history channel will show something with that many boobies in it! TeddyR

Not unless they blurr them out which is just stupid, Discovery Channel does it to, they blurr out boobs and then show open heart surgery or some one with a shot gun blast to the face. Makes no sense at all.
