UPDATE: Letter grades added

In order to expand my anime horizons, I have decided to do a monthly review of a new (or relatively unfamiliar) anime series. I hope this will help open up the floodgates for those still stuck watching old reruns of anime faves.

This month, I'm reviewing two shows recently added to anime network on demand, The Nerima Daikon Brothers and Ninja Nonsense.

The Nerima Daikon Brothers- Synopsis: Two brothers who make a living farming daikon radishes dream of becoming a successful blues band, and together with their sexy cousin and an unusual panda bear, decide to get the money to start their career by stealing money from dangerous criminals. Fausto says: Whoever thought that an anime musical series could have worked, especially considering a redubbed version of an anime musical...is a genius. Hilarious and fast paced, this show had me hooked. Might not appeal to all tastes-the fact that the characters break into song every few minutes might confuse the plot a little, and the sex jokes and foul language may offend (certainly not for the kids). All in all, worth checking out. Watch for it: the fourth-wall breaking end title song. A+

Ninja Nonsense- Synopsis: A female ninja named Shinobu befriends average high school student Kaede, while training to become a great ninja under the tutilage of an anamorphous yellow ball (?). Unfortunately, Shinobu's constant fowl-ups keep getting Kaede into trouble. Fausto says: Funny. Female oriented style with a metric ton of perverse sex jokes thrown in (think Ranma 1/2 with a Hello Kitty veneer). If the male audience can stomach the cuteness factor, it could be a hit. Watch for it: The claymation sequence over the end credits. B
